bahasa sabahan ni (melayulah yang di akun guna pakainya) kadang membawa maksud terbalik ckit bagi orang oversea tue....
contoh....
pantat = punggung bagi orang sabah tapi dorang tue ehem ehem tu..
satu lagi songsang....orang seberang punya penggunaan bawa maksud ok tapi bila kita plak...hancuss pengertiannya... apakah itu??
lalu = melimpas bagi kita
tapi ada plak yang maklum pengertian lalu tu untuk ehem ehem plak
bah bila cakap 'tumpang lalu' bagi kita tu....tumpang *tut..*

kunci mangga disebut sebagai 'kindadu'
bagi yg bermaksud kebiasaan disebut sbg 'andang2'
ini antara ayat biasa kedengaran:
"Pegi pasang lampung, mau galap sudah ni!" maksudnya,
'pegi pasang lampu, malam menjelang sudah ni..'
"bidak betul sumandak tuh, bagus kalau siok dia menyanyi!" maksudnya,
'hodoh betul gadis itu, bagus kalau dia pandai menyanyi'
ada certain perkataan hanya sesuai untuk certain keadaan sebab kalau silap sikit kita boleh di-sogit(denda).
contoh: ARAMAITI
"maeh aramaiti di saaana rumah kawan" antara bermaksud, dia bawak kita minum di rumah kawan atau setakat bersuka-ria di sana seperti ber-karaoke ke, berbual kosong je ke.
Tapi, jaga2, jangan sebut ayat ni bila menghadiri kenduri org meninggal.Dan sia dengar ada certain kita punya politician tia suka dengar perkataan ini. tia tau kanapa lah. |

perkataan 'kemarin' bagi org sabah bermaksud 'yesterday', manakala org semenanjung pula sebut 'semalam'.
contoh:
- sabah: "kemarin sia nampak ko di kadai kupi."
- english: "yesterday i saw you at the coffee shop."
- semenanjung: "semalam saya nampak awak kat kedai kopi."
perkataan 'semalam' pula bagi orang sabah bermaksud 'last night', org semenanjung bilang 'malam tadi'.
manakala, 'kemarin' bagi org semenanjung bermaksud 'the day before yesterday', org sabah pula bilang 'kemarin dulu'. |

hari satu - Isnin
hari dua - selasa
hari tiga- rabu
hari empat -khamis
hari lima- jumaat
hari enam- sabtu
hari minggu-ahad
sia pun biasa cakap begini..heheh |

kogutan/huvon - urang puti bilang 'hangover'
moginum - dalam keadaan mabuk minum minuman keras
pilak - merujuk kepada PTI
pilat- parut luka
muli/mulih- pulang kampung/rumah

HATI-HATI MENGGUNAKAN PERKATAAN INI
BM baku, 'tonton' adalah merujuk kpd perbuatan melihat sesuatu persembahan/show.
Urang dusun cakap 'tonton' adalah bahagian bawah ***** wanita.
BM baku, 'betik' adalah buah papaya.
Urang sebelah Kota Belud, ia merujuk kepada bhgn breast wanita.(kalau tia silap la) |

kadang vee sendiri heran....orang sabahn punya melayu sangat unik...ada macam2 kata untuk satu perkara.contoh
buah dada
-nenen
-betik
-spotlight
-tembikai
-payudara
sori kerana bagi contoh tu tapi bagi forumner kita pro ckit lah ya, bukan niat nak melucah

limpas (to pass/walk by - Maaf, saya > limpas dulu? Excuse me, can I passby?

bubut (as in proper malay- "kejar", to chase)
andang-andang (that's how it is)
sapak (kasi campur/gaul -- utk masakan-to mix as in cooking)
inda/tia (short form of "tidak" - not, no)
wicin (another brand of msg as in "aji-no- moto" - a seasoning > or food enhancer)
talampau (proper malay - "terlampau"- too much)
takajut (proper malay - "terkejut" - shocked, startled)
siorang (proper malay -"kami"/ "saya-orang" - us, we)
ngam-ngam (proper malay "kebetulan" - exact, at that time)
mangkali (proper malay "barangkali" - maybe, perhaps)
kamarin (proper malay "kelmarin" - yesterday)
kanapa (proper malay "kenapa" - why)
gia (___expression - "is it?")
bah (___expression - "ok!")
ah? (question, "Apa?" What?)
kici/kicil (proper malay "kecil" - small)
basar (proper malay "besar" - big, huge)
siok (___expression/description, proper malay "seronok" - enjoyable, great, etc-)
urang ("orang" - people; sometimes used "diurang" - them, they)

taapun - a phrase used when unable to get the things desired
palis palis - touch wood
tachut - our version of touch wood
gostan - reverse
gohed - forward
kogutan - hangover
Sepuluh Tiga (10-3) - RM10 for three cans of beer (well in those days lah)
muhau - crazy
takana - hit (BM is terkena)
tekuis - same like like takana
kapayas / tapayas - papaya
api api - kota kinabalu

skijap - soon / in a short while / later
