Nicolas Anelka says Chelsea know how to beat Man United

"Manchester United, we know them and we know what we have to do, even if you can never predict what is going to happen in a match.

"We have just played against Manchester and we beat them 2-1 so we are therefore quite confident. Anything is possible.

"Cristiano Ronaldo never stops scoring. At the moment, he is the best player in the world.

"But in one game, he can have an off day or be marked by a good defender."

Fergie feels key to glory is negating the power of Drogba

"They are a hard team to beat," he said. "They're big, strong and physical. They're experienced. They can eke out one-nil victories quite easily. That's the way they've been the last few years, I think. It's important we express ourselves and play our game the best we can."

He will be acutely aware of the menace of Didier Drogba, the striker whose goal won the FA Cup for Chelsea last season at the conclusion of a tedious afternoon at Wembley. "He scored the winner, but therewas nothing in it. It's not as though he was brilliant or anything. I thought we handled him quite well. But he is a big strong man who has got a good goalscoring record."

The collision between Drogba and Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic will be a compelling one. And Ferguson knows that it is crucial his men negate the power of the Ivorian as his men try to make up for the lost opportunities of other United teams. "I think it's a tournament that elevates your status as footballers, and as a team. I think we should have won it many more times," said the United manager.

New Carrick deal delights Sir Alex

Manchester United midfielder Michael Carrick has signed a new four-year contract as the Red Devils prepare for the Champions League final.

Carrick, 26, has become a fixture in the side this season, making 48 appearances as they retained the Premier League title.

Now he is preparing to face Chelsea in Moscow and manager Sir Alex Ferguson said: "I am delighted Michael has signed a new contract.

"Michael has been outstanding since joining us from Tottenham and it is great to know he will be a part of this squad for many years to come."

Carrick joined United from Tottenham two years ago for

artikel best on scholes.. rugi kalau x baca

Old Trafford, August 2003. Paul Scholes and his wife, Claire, are making a rare public appearance at a fundraising dinner for the National Asthma Campaign in a suite at the stadium. The Manchester United midfielder is nervous. '#!' he says. 'I don't have to get up and say a few words, do I? And with a microphone? What do I do?'........

Ronaldo insists his future hinges on the manager
I STAY BECAUSE OF FERGIE

By DAVID HARRISON

CRISTIANO RONALDO and Sir Alex Ferguson were born 44 years and 1,100 miles apart.

But their destinies are entwined to such an extent that Manchester United's long-term future rests on a Madeiran marvel and a Glaswegian genius.

If Ronaldo's loyalty to Old Trafford is being severely tested by Real Madrid's relentless stalking, the presence of Ferguson will be a deciding factor in any decision to stay or go.

Whether it's respect, fear or a combination of both, Ronaldo has made it clear his future is governed by Ferguson's position at United.

As long as Fergie remains in power, Ronaldo is content to remain in England.

And that could see the pair spearheading United's quest for even greater glory for another two years.

Ronaldo acknowledges the debt he owes to Sir Alex

Vidic risks Drogba's wrath with diving accusation

He can pretend he fell down to win a penalty, but referees know that. The Champions League final is a big game and I抦 sure the ref will know his job. He抯 a great player and he抯 a top scorer. It抯 a hard job to stop him.

HAPPY HAMMERS ... Cole and Carrick celebrate for West Ham

In Moscow, the old friends will go head to head for club football抯 biggest prize.

Of course, the West Ham connection extends to two other players in Frank Lampard and Rio Ferdinand.

The four former Hammers have remained close friends and after Wednesday night will meet up again with the England squad next weekend.

Cole revealed they have already made a pact not to talk about what happens in Moscow as it will be too raw for the losers.
He said: 揟he United lads know I love 抏m
