The marriage celebrations occurred from April 5 to 15 and were held at the sultan’s official residence, the Istana Nurul Iman, which, as reported on the Daily Mail, has 1,788 rooms, 257 bathrooms, five grand swimming pools and a massive garage that can fit up to 110 cars. The banquet took place in the palace hall, which could fit up to 5,000 guests, and was kicked off with a grand entrance of the royal guards carrying ceremonial shields and spears.

Clad in opulence from head to toe, the bride and groom wore clothing decked in diamonds and other gems. As reported on ABC News, the bride’s jewellery included: a diamond tiara that had six teardrop-shaped emeralds, a diamond necklace with three large emeralds and a matching brooch. She wore a pair of Swarovski crystal-encrusted Christian Louboutin heels and a chunky pure gold anklet. And in lieu of fresh flowers, the bride even carried a sparkling bouquet of gems.
The couple changed into evening outfits, which were just as glamorous. Prince Malik wore ceremonial military dress bedecked with diamond epaulettes and collar, while his wife wore a purple gown, beaded and embroidered with silver thread. The Daily Mail detailed her evening jewellery set, which included: a translucent veil crowned with a diamond tiara encrusted with rubies and a scarlet gem, a necklace with a twisted diamond and a ruby rope design, a large diamond and ruby brooch as well as a grand diamond ring on her right hand. Talk about dripping in jewels.

As reported on ABC News, the ceremonies took place at the sultan’s grand palace, no less, at the royal court that seated about 3,000 guests, including then Thai Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra, the late Benigno Aquino III, president of the Philippines at that time, and Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen.
The bride wore a crystal-beaded beige and silver gown, while the groom matched in a beige and gold brocade. On the dias, placed beside the couple, were two pots of crystal flowers with eggs on the stalks – a symbol of hope for a fertile marriage.
The groom was given the royal title Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Anak, which means Son of His Highness, a title only granted only to the “upper tiers of Brunei’s aristocracy”, according to the same report.
