KUALA LUMPUR: A Bangladeshi car wash worker was seriously injured after an attack by a customer today.
The incident, which happened at an undisclosed location here, saw the victim sustain a broken nose alongside cuts and bruises after an assault by the enraged man.
Part of the incident was caught on closed-circuit television camera(CCTV). The footage has since gone viral on social media and has been shared by over 28,000 netizens since it was uploaded to Facebook by user Atie Abdul Hamid.
Atie, who is believed to be the car wash owner, claimed that the customer was upset because the victim entered his vehicle and soiled the interior.
The Facebook post, translated from Malay, says: "This CCTV footage of a man attacking a Bangladeshi worker who was cleaning his car happened when the Bangladeshi went inside his car and soiled it.
"Maybe the Bangladeshi was wearing worn-out clothes and looked shabby... The man then declined to pay but instead asked for RM1,000 because the Bangladeshi worker had sat in his car while cleaning the windshield."
Atie also claimed the victim's nose had been bleeding since the attack, and he had been referred to hospital by a clinic due to the seriousness of his injuries.
Later, in another Facebook posting, Atie said an X-ray from Sungai Buloh Hospital confirmed that the victim's nose was broken.
"Allahuakbar... the X-ray confirmed that his nose was broken... Follow-up on Monday. What was his fault?
"Apparently he was attacked again behind (the car wash premises) until he bled... but the CCTV there was not working... However I have taken pictures of the blood stains on the floor," she said in the post.
The 2-minutes and 31-second clip shows the enraged customer, who appears to be in his early 30s, shouting at the Bangladeshi worker who was sitting on the vehicle's driver seat.
The victim, who was holding a cloth in his hand, then exited the car before its owner went inside and continued a verbal tirade against the Bangladeshi.
At minute 1:20, the man was seen hitting the victim with his hand. He then continued shouting at the Bangladeshi, before slapping him twice.
Thousands of netizens irked by the incident who shared and viewed the video are calling for authorities to take immediate action against the attacker. |

KUALA LUMPUR (THE STAR/ASIA NEWS NETWORK)- Netizens in Malaysia are up in arms aftera video of a man slapping a foreign worker for allegedly dirtying his car went viral.
Closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage showed the foreign worker holding a washcloth while sitting in the front seat of a luxury SUV.
The car owner asked him to get out,then scolded and slapped him hard in the face.
The clip was uploaded by the owner of the car wash, Ms Atie Abdul Hamid. She said the man got angry with the worker, accusing the worker of dirtying his car.
"The man did not want to pay for the car wash, and instead asked for RM1,000 from the man sitting in and dirtying his car when he was trying to clean the windscreen," said Ms Atie.
She added that the worker got slapped a second time at another location that caused the worker to "bleed non-stop".
She said that the CCTV at the second location was not working, but she snapped a picture of the ground with the blood.
After visiting a clinic, the clinic doctor referred the worker to the hospital where doctors confirmed that the worker has a broken nose.
"An X-ray confirmed that it is a broken nose. The follow-up is on Monday," said Ms Atie.
When contacted, she said that the worker is still at the hospital and that she was busy attending to him.
The video has since received almost 29,000 'likes' and more than 58,000 shares. It was viewed more than 1.5 million times.
Several netizens commented on the video and criticised the man for being arrogant and a bully.
Many also urged Ms Atie to lodge a police report against the man.
Said Facebook user Matthew Loh: "How is the worker going to wipe inside without sitting down? Does he want him to take a shower first and spray perfume before entering? I hope the bully gets charged. Not wanting to pay and demanding compensation seems like a huge excuse not to pay at all."

Pekerja pusat cuci kereta dilempang

PEMILIK SUV itu (depan kanan) kemudian dilihat menampar muka pekerja pusat mencuci kereta berkenaan kelmarin.
SUNGAI BULOH – Tindakan seorang lelaki tempatan menampar muka seorang pekerja warga Bangladesh di sebuah pusat mencuci kereta di Subang Perdana di sini mengundang padah apabila dia kini dicari polis.
Tindakan lelaki berusia 30-an itu telah dirakamkan televisyen litar tertutup (CCTV) di premis tersebut sebelum video berdurasi 2 minit 30 saat berkenaan menjadi viral dalam media sosial seperti Facebook dan YouTube.
Difahamkan, kejadian pada pukul 12.45 tengah hari kelmarin itu berlaku apabila pekerja warga asing tersebut dikatakan duduk di tempat duduk pemandu semasa mahu membersihkan cermin hadapan kenderaan itu.
Pemilik kenderaan utiliti sukan (SUV) itu bagaimanapun berang apabila mendakwa tindakan pekerja berkenaan telah mengotorkan kenderaan tersebut.
Lelaki tempatan berkenaan kemudian dikatakan meminta ganti rugi sebanyak RM1,000 selain mengugut pekerja terbabit.
Menurut kenyataan seorang pemilik akaun Facebook, Atie Abdul Hamid yang dipercayai merupakan pemilik premis berkenaan, lelaki warga asing itu mengalami pendarahan apabila hidungnya patah akibat ditampar lelaki tempatan terbabit.
Menurut Atie, pekerjanya itu sudah dibawa ke Hospital Sungai Buloh untuk menerima rawatan lanjut.
