Tevez: "we want to stay"

Argentine attacker Carlos Tevez has reassured West Ham's players and fans that he and compatriot Javier Mascherano are not looking to leave the club in the wake of Kia Joorabchian's failed takeover bid.

Joorabchian, whose consortium had a bid for the Hammers in process for months, lost out to the group headed by Icelandic FA president Eggert Magnusson.

"I don't know anything about moving from West Ham," he said. "The players are all asking if we're staying, but we just keep on training."

The pair have struggled to adapt to the Premiership after their move from Brazilian club Corinthians, but Tevez insists that they are learning.

"English football is very physical," he added. "You have to be very quick. Mascherano and myself knew it would be difficult and we have to be patient.

"There aren't any small defenders, they are all big. This has made me improve as a player. In South America, you stand out by having good technique, but not here.

"I have to be patient, and keep learning."

Tevez and Mascherano staying

Under-fire Argentine duo Carlos Tevez and Javier Mascherano look set to stay at West Ham - because FIFA rules prevent them from leaving. The pair failed to impress since joining the Hammers and have even been blamed for disrupting team spirit, but a mooted move in January cannot legally materialise.

Tevez and Mascherano came to West Ham in a shock transfer arranged by their registration holders, the MSI group, whose representative Kia Joorabchian fronted an ultimately unsuccessful bid to take over the club.

They have so far struggled to adapt to the English game, with both players complaining of the physical nature of the Premiership, and many thought that manager Alan Pardew's hand was being forced at first.

However, it seems they cannot move on loan in January as FIFA regulations stipulate that players cannot play for more than two clubs in the 12 month period from July 1st to June 30th.

Both players featured for Brazilian side Corinthians in July and August, which renders any January move pointless as they would not be allowed to play in competitive matches.

A FIFA spokesman said: "Our rules say players may register for up to three clubs in that 12-month period, but may not play for more than two."

Boss Pardew still wants the pair to succeed at West Ham and is hoping the buyout of the club by an Icelandic consortium has eased the pressure for everyone concerned.

"They're owned by the person whose takeover didn't happen, and that might be a problem," he said. "But I hope that they begin to grow here quicker than they have done in the previous period, and I think that can happen.

"Maybe the situation will work for them as well because they can settle down now and we can get the best out of them."

kena tunggu july gak la chelsea, juventus, barca dan sapa-sapa yang nak beli

Tevez "sorry" for walk-out

Carlos Tevez has apologised for storming out of Upton Park after being substituted during Saturday's Premiership victory over Sheffield United. The Argentinean striker left the stadium before the end of the match, but immediately issued an apology to his manager and team-mates on Monday morning.

The rest of the Hammers squad will decide on the level of fine for the 22-year-old, with the money being donated to Great Ormond Street Hospital.

"I would just like to say that I left the ground in anger on Saturday, it was a spur of the moment decision which I regretted almost straight away," Tevez told the club's official website.

"I know I did very wrong in going and I have made it clear to the manager and my team-mates that I in no way meant to disrespect them."

Tevez and compatriot Javier Mascherano came to West Ham in a shock transfer arranged by their registration holders, the MSI group, whose representative Kia Joorabchian fronted an ultimately unsuccessful bid to take over the club.

Joorabchian is expected to try and move both Tevez and Mascherano on during the winter transfer window after Eggert Magnusson's successful takeover of the club this week.
