i like Hanoi. tak puas pegi sana sbb blm habis explore. byk sgt tempat yg tak sempat nak pegi.
masa byk terbuang coz me & hubby berjalan kaki. kalau naik motor dr awal, byk tempat boleh pegi. about the sound ( ) both of us teringat2 sampai balik ke KL. kalau jumpa sesape yg suka hon on the road kat KL, i always tell my hubby...org ni baru balik dr vietnam (u get what i mean rite?)
silk village tak sempat pegi. i pegi Dong Xuan market mcm tak nampak benda yg interesting. apa yg u beli kat situ?
table cloth, bedsheet ...i tak jumpa la. kat mana u beli? i byk shopping kat area Hang Be & Hang Bac coz nearby my hotel. u stay kat mana? brp harga 1 mlm?
night market pun best jugak (only on weekend). byk gak brg i borong kat situ.
next time kalu pegi dah pandai sikit.. sure boleh explore lebih.
u pegi Halong bay bermalam tak kat sana?

Sksk..
Hmmm memang Dong Xuan cam tak de per sangat... tapi i beli souvenirs e.g fridge magnets and keychains kat situ... and also purse and bags - mostly beli kat situ.. beli banyak2 dapat ler murah skit ..
I saw ur pics.. and i didnt buy as many bags as u did hehe..
i mostly beli kat Hang Gai street.. ada small lots dekat corner nak ke Dong xuan market... ( jalan yg dekat roundabout hoan kiem lake tu)... Hang Gai banyak silk, tapi hmm mahai ler (the type yg VIP2 kita including our ex queen pegi - ada gambar kat kedai diorang), tapi bedsheets, table cloths, duvet covers, bedsheets banyakkk je kat kedai2 sepanjang jalan ni. One of the shops yg famous for embroidered items, Tan My, my my my cantik2 betui barang diorang - lil girls baju and table napkinss cantik2! silk scarfs and segala.. geram tengok..
Night market i pi both nites tapi tak jumpa apa2 pon yg berkenan, cuma i boughtt my first few tas tangan kat situ sbb dah excited giler wlupon tak berapa berkenan dengan harga.. lepas tu i stopped myself knowing i stil had many more days untuk cari yg lebih murah.. and i did. Yippiee
halong Bay pergi one day trip.. kami bagitau hotel staff kami nak ke Halong Bay ( Bodega (RM58/nite/room), and diorang tlg kontek travel agent.. itinerary t.a picked us at at 8.00 in a minivan (campur orang2 len lah).. pi jetty, tunggu boat, then cruising among the islands, lunch-on-boat (tapi kami skipped tu, hmm rasa cuak je tengok food diaorang even though it was mostly seafood, theres this satu meat dish), then turun untuk explore caves, pas tu ada request utk stop for a swim, ada ler 3-4 orang mandi, then head back to the jetty, then got in the minibus again and arrived back at the hotel around 8 pm.. In alll syokkk sebab rasa macamm dalam set pirates of the carribean with so many tongkangs sana sini .. cuma the water tuh cam keruh skit tak macam langkawi yg nampak jernih ...
I bought all that i've listed in my previous post.. kalau boleh nak beli lagi tapi dah risau excess baggage and memangg dah tak cukup jari nak bimbit, terpaksa le dilupakan niatku yang murni itu .. in the end bawak balik dalam 50USD.. seriously i tell u, memang dah tak cukup tangan...
gambar er sorrii tak leh nak share sebab i nih the type yg stil pakai film kamera..
syokkan kan to see org diorang jual segala jenis buah and bunga and sayur dalam bakul tuh? so very the colourful! |

Taste of home in Hanoi
SAMBAL ON THE SIDE
By BRENDA BENEDICT
For those who miss Malaysian food when in Vietnam, it is a godsend indeed when a Malaysian establishment is set up serving the usual goodies.
I think I can safely say that I抳e yet to meet a Malaysian abroad who does not miss our local food.
But are we even surprised? Malaysia has such a wide range of edibles that satisfies almost every palate. There抯 sweet, sour, savoury, spicy or simply scrumptious. I cannot count how many times I抳e craved for freshly fried vadai with coconut chutney or for spicy curry puffs during chilly winter afternoons in Germany.
The closest I could get was to generously smear my Br鰐chen (little German buns) with hot sambal olek produced in Holland! In fact, this was what inspired the name of this column.
Recently, my husband and I were craving for steaming plates of nasi lemak when the weather turned chilly here in Hanoi. But this time, our prayers were answered. That very evening I received a call from a friend at the Malaysian Embassy asking if I had already heard of 揗alaysia in Hanoi |

I'm thinking of going to Hanoi in Dec. Probably going to take Air Asia's flight and hotel package. Which hotel is nice? Hanoi Hotel, Sofitel Metropole, Hanoi Plaza Hotel, Hanoi Stars Hotel or Sofitel Plaza Hotel?
How's the weather like in Hanoi? Are the people friendly? |

nice hotel? emm ...it depends on the purpose of your trip. me...i rather spend my money for shopping than expensive hotel. when we travel, i am sure that the time spend in the hotel room is less. so long the location of hotel is easily accessible to major attractions, clean, safe & cheap, i ll go for it. u can refer to the previous post from those visited Hanoi before & make comparison.
my trip to Hanoi in August (3d2n) was mainly for shopping. no time to visit historical spot. anyway, there are a lot of interesting things to do if u have longer time.
weather in December, i am not very sure. why don't you visit tripadvisor.com forum on Hanoi...very helpful.
Hanoi people is very nice. the only problem is communication as not many Hanoian can speak good English. pls standby a good map & calculator (for bargaining).
i love Hanoi. will make a come back.. but don't know when. got to wait for airasia's free ticket i guess

sksk,
Yup, I'd rather spend my money on shopping than on expensive hotels. As long as it's clean and safe.
I'll try the tripadvisor site that you mentioned. I hope Hanoi is worth it coz December is the only month I can travel. |

Hi guys,
I just returned from Hanoi (5D/4N). I stayed overnight in Halong Bay. The scenery there is stunning. Give me a few days to sort out the photos and I'll upload them here.
Hanoi City is interesting. Lots of motorcycles on the road, honking left and right. The way they drive there will give you a heart attack. Motorcyclists don't wear helmets except on the highway. You can see 3 or 4 person on a bike
I went to Nisa Restaurant as recommended here. Ordered nasi lemak and teh tarik. Later Pak Ben came over to our table and asked 'From Malaysia?, coz I noticed you ordering nasi lemak'. Hehe. Chatted with Pak Ben for an hour. He's real friendly and humorous too. |
