Arashi's single sold over 500,000 for the first week

Johnny's Jimusho idol group Arashi have seen their latest release storm to the top of the Oricon singles chart.

"Believe/Kumori Nochi Kaisei" entered the chart at No.1 and has already sold over half a million copies in the week since its release.

It's the first time Arashi have managed that feat since their 1999 debut single. The last artist to do it was fellow Johnny's group KAT-TUN three years ago.

Charts: Arashi sells half a million

Arashi's latest single, "Believe / Kumori Nochi, Kaisei," dominated the charts this past week. With roughly 502,000 copies sold, it has become the best-selling single of 2009 so far. It is also the first to break half a million in its opening week since KAT-TUN's "Real Face" (754,000) in April 2006. Arashi achieved the same feat once before with their debut single "A-RA-SHI" (557,000) in 1999.

New singles flooded the top ten, occupying the next seven spots behind Arashi. The releases came from GLAY, AKB48, Tsuyoshi Nagabuchi, Yuna Ito, YUKI, Ken (of L'Arc~en~Ciel), and ROCK'A'TRENCH.

On the album rankings, FUNKY MONKEY BABYS edged out a win with their aptly named third album, "FUNKY MONKEY BABYS 3." The album sold 80,000 copies, only 2,000 more than Chatmonchy's "Kokuhaku." Also in the top ten were JUJU, supercell, Mika Nakashima, Dragon Ash, Kalafina, and AI.

nak kata baru minat tu xdela sangat.. dulu minat arashi sbb matsujun tapi skarang bila tgk semua show and tv programme dorang (hana marathon their programme) dah suke sume!!! termasuk aiba yg tak berapa betul tu

kanji mmg susah, kena hafal... bukan ade rumus mcm huruf rumi ker... kdg2 bentuk tuh bile kat perkataan lain bunyi lain, kalau kat perkataan lain bunyi lain....

hana blajar japanese dulu pun tak sampai kanji lagi.. cikgu jepun hana ckp mmg susah kanji ni... hana blajar tulisan dorang sampai katakana aje tu pun tak mahir lagi katakana.. hiragana hana bole baca lagi..
tapi dh lama tak praktis japanese ni, ingat2 lupa ler
