During her teenager years, Sevigny became something of a rebel: "I was very well-mannered, and my mother was very strict.(catholic family) But I did hang out at the Mobil station and smoke cigarettes."[13] She also began referring to her hometown as "Aryan Darien,"[18] attempting to break free of the high class, Ivy League-reputation of the community.
She openly admitted to experimenting with drugs as a teenager, especially hallucinogens, but said she was never a "good drug user"; despite this, she was sent to Alcoholics Anonymous meetings by her parents after indulging in marijuana and hallucinogenic drugs..
"I got picked on all the time and they thought i was a lesbian...but i was a tough kid".." She often described herself as a "loner" and a "depressed teenager."[16] Her only extracurricular activity was occasionally skateboarding with her older brother, and she spent most of her free time in her bedroom: "Mostly I sewed. I had nothing better to do, so I made my own clothes."[18]

In 2007, she told The Times, "I had a great family life – I would never want it to look as if it reflected on them. I think I was very bored, and I did just love taking hallucinogens ... But I often feel it's because I experimented when I was younger that I have no interest as an adult. I know a lot of adults who didn't, and it's much more dangerous when you start experimenting [with drugs] as an adult."

Chloe Sevigny - Sevigny Hates 'It' Girls
27 December 2010
Edgy actress CHLOE SEVIGNY has taken aim at PEACHES GELDOF and the other modern 'It' girls - because they're nothing like the iconic socialites of the past. The Boys Don't Cry star insists the term 'It' girl is used "too loosely" and discredits the likes of actress Clara Bow.
Sevigny rages, "Today the term is used to describe, say, Peaches Geldof - a girl who doesn't do anything but is just sort of around.
"The original It girl was the 1920s movie star Clara Bow; then in the 1960s, with Edie Sedgwick and (Andy) Warhol, It girls turned into socialites, ladies of leisure, people who had it just for being fabulous. But Edie was just a rich drug addict, and when I got called the It girl everyone thought I was that too... I felt I was doing stuff, not just being a socialite."
PAUL Sevigny is worried about his sister Chloe Sevigny's love life, and he blames it all on her L.A.-based HBO show, "Big Love." "Chloe goes out with a wonderful man, Matt McAuley. I introduced them seven years ago," Sevigny told Webster Hall's Baird Jones at the Members Only party at the Bowery Hotel. " 'Big Love' is not helping. It's a lot of sacrifice. She gets maybe one day off in the week and she can't come home for just one day, that's ridiculous. They work her extremely hard. But Matt has a job, too, and can't go see her, so he is stuck in New York. It's a big problem."
