TLDM
Kapal2 awal TLDM mcm HMMS Pelandok, kapal penyapu ranjau kelas Ton, beberapa bot peronda awal.
TUDM
Sama macam TLDM dan cuma Skyhawk sahaja yang 2nd hand....peralatan lain semuanya belian baru. Lepas camne hang boleh kata Sukhoi tu 2nd hand sedangkan i) Sukhoi tu custom-spec ii)Russia sendiri ada berapa kerat aje Su-30, camne boleh release pesawat 2nd hand?
TD
Yang ni mmg zero 2nd hand |

Pesawat Tempur Asing Lecehkan OV-10 Filipina Di Reed Bank
Fighter jets believed to be from China allegedly harassed last week two aircraft of the Philippine Air Force (PAF) that were conducting reconnaissance patrol over Reed Bank near Palawan province, a military source said Thursday.
“They (PAF aircraft) were buzzed. Obviously, they were approached," the source said. “If you are a lesser superior aircraft, you will not engage."
He said the PAF team was then using two OV-10s while the foreign aircraft were MIG fighter jets, which were far superior and more sophisticated.
The source said the incident occurred Thursday last week while the PAF aircraft were on routine reconnaissance patrol over the area.
The incident occurred three days before the US carrier that carried the body of slain international terrorist leader Osama bin Laden — the USS Carl Vinson — visited the Philippines — a move seen to cast a shadow on the Philippine-China relationship.
Both China and the Philippines are claimants in the disputed Spratlys Islands. The Philippine government has maintained that the Reed Bank is part of Western Palawan and not of the Spratlys Island.
Reed Bank
“The location was somewhere over the Reed Bank…. It (PAF flight) is part of our normal maritime air patrols [to] check if there are new structures… formation of Chinese ships," the source said.
It was the second time an alleged harassment occurred in the area. Last March, two Chinese ships supposedly harassed an oil exploration vessel from the Department of Energy, prompting the Philippine military to deploy aircraft to the area.
Philippine defense and military officials said the Reed Bank is well within the Philippines’ exclusive economic zone.
The source said the OV-10 pilots initially thought that the “unidentified aircraft," which were flying some 5,000 feet above them, were passenger planes, noting that the area is an international air route.
Oban: AFP capabilities limited
Sought for comment, Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) chief Gen. Eduardo Oban did not confirm the incident, saying they are still verifying the report.
“Definitely in the Armed Forces of the Philippines, we just do the mandate that [was] given to us, we are patrolling our territorial waters to make sure the protection of our maritime resources and to make sure that no one enters our territory and violates our maritime laws," he said.
Oban admitted that the Philippine military lacks the capability to totally monitor the country’s airspace, as well capability to intercept intruding aircraft.
“In terms of capability, we don’t actually have the detection and monitoring capability. We don’t have radars to check if they indeed intruded into our airspace. Second, if we indeed have that capability, we need interdiction [capability]. We don’t have capability to interdict or to intercept," he said.
Oban said the alleged harassment may be among the issues that may be discussed during his meeting with Chinese Defense Minister Gen. Liang Guanglie, who is scheduled to arrive on Saturday. The meeting will take place on Monday and will also be attended by Philippine Defense Secretary Voltaire Gazmin.
“I see that among the talking points will be the Declaration of Conduct," he said, referring to the agreement that was forged by the claimant countries to refrain from using force to solve the dispute. — KBK, GMA News

Philippines eyes submarine acquisition by 2020
The Philippine Navy (PN) intends to procure a submarine before the end of this decade in a bid to secure national interests and maintain the military balance within Southeast Asia.
A PN official told Jane's on 17 May that the service is undertaking a series of studies that will outline the submarine requirement as well as assess the plan's feasibility. Based on these studies, the PN expects to submit a purchase proposal to the Department of National Defense (DND) within the next year.
The official said that it was too early to comment on whether the PN will seek to procure a second-hand submarine or a new platform. A lack of money has often forced the Philippines to buy second-hand materiel. The PN's new flagship vessel when it arrives later this year, for example, will be the former US Coast Guard cutter USCGC Hamilton.
The submarine is necessary, said the PN official, to increase the PN's capability to patrol its territorial waters. Ownership of much of these waters - where significant deposits of oil and gas are thought to reside - is contested by China and several Southeast Asian countries, all of which have recently acquired, or plan to acquire, submarine assets.
The Philippines submarine procurement plan is part of the PN's Sail Plan 2020, which sets out a strategy for modernisation balanced against financial constraints. The plan outlines the need for the PN to become more responsive and develop "reliable naval facilities" and an "up-to-date naval capability" by the end of the decade. |

AU Filipina Akan Terima 4 Helikopter PZL Swidnik W3 Sokol
Manila: The armed forces is due to take delivery of billions of pesos worth of military hardware as part of efforts to upgrade the capability of the Philippine armed forces.
By November this year, the Philippine Air Force will take into service four brand new Sokol medium transport helicopters from Poland's PZL Swidnik, Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) chief Gen. Eduardo Oban Jr. was quoted by reports as saying.
The helicopter acquisition package is worth P2.8 billion (Dh230,900,000) and is expected to boost the military's internal security capability as well as ability to move troops anywhere in the country at short notice and with considerable reliability.
The impending addition of the Polish-manufactured aircraft marks the only occasion that the Philippines had sourced its helicopters from another manufacturer other than those in the United States.
The country had sourced all of its helicopters from the US, either as surplus hardware or had been bought used from Singapore.
Aside from the Sokols, the military is also expected to upgrade its MD 520 attack helicopters which is used in air to ground combat roles against insurgents.
Philippine arms acquisition in the past have largely been confined to weapons used in counterinsurgency operations, however, the country is increasingly giving attention to addressing external threats.
The Philippine Navy is expect to put into service its Hamilton class frigate from the US by September this year.
Considered as one of the largest combat ships in the Philippine fleet, the P1.5 billion (Dh127,000,000) yet to be named Hamilton-class frigate will provide the country's navy to venture into deeper waters.
In comparison, all other ships in the country's fleet are limited to coastal operations.
Reports said that aside from the ship due to be in service by September, officials are negotiating for the acquisition of a second Hamilton class frigate.
The country is also upgrading one of its three Peacock class coastal patrol vessels bought from the United Kingdom.
A gunboat and a landing craft bought from South Korea are also expected to arrive within the year.
Oban said the addition of the new weapons in the Philippine arsenal will greatly enhance the navy's capability to patrol the archipelagic country's coastlines which is considered one of the most expansive in the world. |
