Glazer jual Man Utd dengan harga RM8 bilion?
2011/02/12
Pengarah Komunikasi United, Phil Townsend kelmarin, menegaskan tiada tawaran dibuat.
– Agensi |

Ini gol terbaik pernah saya jaringkan: Rooney
2011/02/14

- AFP |

Boss savours derby winner
Sir Alex Ferguson believes Wayne Rooney’s acrobatic winner in the Manchester derby is among Old Trafford's greatest ever goals – and comparable to some of those scored by the manager's boyhood hero Denis Law.
Rooney dealt the decisive blow in the 77th minute of an enthralling local derby, after goals from Nani and David Silva had deadlocked the score at 1-1.
Speaking after the match, Sir Alex was at a loss to recall a better goal at M16 and was keen to point out the similarities between Rooney and Law. “Wayne hit a volley against Newcastle some years ago that had the same ferocity and we’ve of course seen some excellent goals here, but in terms of execution you’ll never see any better.
“I have to say it reminded me of him (Law) when it went in, but whether or not Denis hit them in with such ferocity I’m not so sure. It was unbelievable. I haven’t seen anything like it before, that’s for sure. It was absolutely stunning, unbelievable.”
In stark contrast to the 0-0 draw in the derby at Eastlands earlier this season, the game was an end-to-end affair as both sides went for the jugular. However the boss was confident United more than deserved the win.
“I thought City made a bright start and got behind Patrice Evra a couple of times with Toure and Silva, who caused us a bit of bother at times. But from the 15th minute onwards I felt we played some fantastic football.
“The width in our game was terrific, Ryan Giggs had enough composure to take the ball in tight situations and Nani was threatening all the time, getting by players, shooting on goal and putting in some great crosses. I thought we deserved to be in front at half-time.
“In the second half City made a change by bringing Wright-Phillips on which I think helped them on the right side of the pitch but nothing really bothered us. They got a lucky break when Dzeko’s shot deflected off Silva’s back and that moment gave them the impetus.
“We decided to go for it and brought Berbatov on. He made a difference in the sense of his control and we had some really good chances to get that second goal. At 1-0 we had two fantastic chances to score but then came the winning goal from Rooney.”
Victory for United moves the Reds eight points clear of the Blues with a game in hand – a massive blow to the local rivals' title hopes this season. However Sir Alex is adamant Roberto Mancini’s men can't be ruled out yet.
“They’re still in it. They are in the top four, they’ve got a big strong squad and they’ll win more games than you might think. They want to be in the top four and that’s to our advantage to keep them in that.” |

Ferguson set to splash the cash
Sir Alex Ferguson has revealed he is ready to open his chequebook next summer.
The recent transfer window closed with the only addition to Manchester United's squad being Denmark goalkeeper Anders Lindegaard, whose move from Norwegian outfit Aalesund had been completed a few weeks earlier.
But Ferguson has revealed he made an additional move that ultimately did not come off.
And whilst he is not specifying who his target was, or what position they occupy on the field, it appears the deal has only been delayed rather than abandoned.
"Billionaire owners have introduced a new world that is turning football on its head," Ferguson told United Review.
"For our part, we cannot afford to sit in an ivory tower. We have to face the challenge.
"It is a healthy competition and it goes without saying that we will not shirk it and I don't think we are doing so.
"Although I let the transfer window shut without signing a new player, that is because we did our homework some time ago and didn't have to rush into any emergency buying.
"We had an interest in one player, and I thought we had a chance of bringing him in, but the other parties involved weren't ready and so we have put it away until the summer."

Papers: Rio's Small talk
15/02/2011 11:00
Neil Custis writes in The Sun…
Rio extends words of wisdom to Smalling
Chris Smalling has revealed how a pep talk from Rio Ferdinand helped him keep Carlos Tevez shackled in the Manchester derby. City looked to exploit the inexperienced Smalling as he replaced crocked Ferdinand in United’s 2-1 win on Saturday. But the defender, who joined the Red Devils for £10million from Fulham last July, turned in a huge display to deny Tevez. Smalling, 21, said: “I was talking to Rio on Friday and he was giving me little pointers. He has played with and against Tevez and seen him in training. He was making the point Carlos likes to feel the defenders at his back. So you let him have his touch before you move in and go for him. To have that knowledge to tap into is incredible. It is great to have that pre-match advice but you cannot beat first-hand experience.”
The Guardian claims Liverpool striker Andy Carroll is on target to recover from a thigh injury in time to face United at Anfield on Sunday 6 March. Carroll is yet to feature for Kenny Dalglish’s side since signing from Newcastle for £35million on the last day of the January transfer window.
Elsewhere, The Independent features the newly-published schedule for the 2012 Olympics in London. Old Trafford will host nine matches in the football competition, which starts on 25 July – two days before the opening ceremony. |

Debate: Rooney's goal - best ever?
Sir Alex Ferguson says that, in terms of execution, no goal in his time betters Wayne Rooney’s derby-winning overhead kick into the top corner; while the scorer insists it's the finest strike of his career. But is it the best United goal you’ve ever seen?
Rooney’s wondergoal on Saturday at Old Trafford has opened debate on the matter among many Reds, and while we fully expect a whole raft of other nominations to passionately be put forward, we’d like to hear your thoughts on the matter.
Is it the best United goal you’ve ever seen? If so, why? Or are we simply on a giddy derby high? If it’s not the best Reds strike you’ve seen, which betters it and why?
"Ronaldo's goal against Porto has to be the one for me. The distance, the technique with which he hit the ball, the power... sensational."
s1m0n82
"For me, Rooney's is one of the best goals ever. The reason I say this is because of the reflex action, the instinct, athleticism, power, technique, bravery and last but not least the execution. It was great because it's the sort of goal and stage where others only dream of doing it. As suggested by Wayne, he owed it to us. I think if we win the title then it could be considered the greatest goal at Old Trafford and right up there with Giggs's goal against Arsenal in the all-time United goals."
Sam Saha.mufc7
"I don't think Wayne's goal on Saturday was as good as his strike against Newcastle a few seasons back when he was having words with the referee and then smashed a volley into the top corner. When you think about Rooney's goal against City, Denis Law used to score that type of goal for fun."
lowermead
"I'd rate it fifth best after (in no particular order): Ronaldo v Porto, Beckham's lob from halfway line, Giggsy's run against Arsenal, Scholes's volley against Villa in 06/07."
Bimdeman
“My favourite United goal will always be Ole’s toe-poke at the Nou Camp. You’ll never see anything like that again and it remains the most meaningful. From a quality point of view, there are countless goals: Beckham against Wimbledon, Giggs against Arsenal in 1999, Scholes has hit a few, Cantona, Ronaldo and now Rooney. They’ve all provided moments that make you sit back and say, ‘wow’. It’s almost impossible to narrow it down, but if I absolutely had to pick one then it would be Cantona against Sunderland. I could watch that over and over again.”
MarcRed
“Scholes v Panathinaikos (lob after team move), Scholes v Barcelona, Scholes v Villa (volley in off the bar), Giggs v Arsenal, van Nistelrooy v Fulham (dribble from half-way line, neat finish), Ronaldo v Portsmouth (his best free-kick), Ronaldo v Porto, Rooney v Newcastle (smashed volley)… but I think Rooney’s against City is the best. He had to readjust his body shape and he caught it so sweetly.”
De_Niro88
“Ronaldo’s against Porto was pretty special and Scholesy against Barcelona in the Champions League semi-final stands out. There’s also Cantona’s lob against Sunderland, Giggsy’s solo effort at Villa Park against Arsenal and, Ole’s in 99. The list is endless.”
Carlsberg King
“I’ll say Cantona’s volley against Wimbledon. His touch to get the ball under control is outstanding.”
jabberjaw
Giggs’s goal in 1999 against Arsenal was special and brings back great memories, but Rooney’s overhead kick against City was class. I think that’s more special because it was a derby and the winner.
LEWIS9
“I’m not sure which is United’s best ever. Rooney’s strike against City stands out, especially if we win the title by a point.”
Albacity
“Cantona’s goal against Sunderland in 1996 has to be up there. It was majestic, like a dancing… amazing.”
XdanielredX
“Scholes against Barcelona, Ronaldo against Portsmouth, Berbatov against Liverpool… this could go on for months!”
