2nd Iranian national car design ended

IKCO president and CEO said, "The process of the 2nd Iranian national car design was finished and its production will be started with the joint venture of Iran and China."

Manouchehr Manteghi in an interview with Fars news agency reporter stated, "Its production was discussed in Shanghai summit among high ranking officials of two countries that C-class Samand would come to Iran."

Manteghi stated, "There must be variant products for entering export markets."

Considering that IKCO is supposed to design C-class car for Samand from a long time ago, he declared, "At present, the 1st design of the car was finished and now we have entered the investment phase and the dimension of this model is smaller than Samand."

"C-class Samand is the 2nd Iranian national car and the first option for its engine is the national one. Two versions of the national engine will be installed on this car including the 1.4 liter engine that its first production has been done and the 1.7 liter engine that its research works has been finished," Manteghi said.

The first Turbocharged National Engine was installed on Soren after passing successfully the necessary tests.


Mahammad Zali National Engine project manager said, "Installation of turbocharged engine on a car produces more power without increase of fuel consumption and engine capacity."

He added, "1.7 turbocharged engine is the second one of national engine family that has 156 hp and 213 Nm torque. Its design and production began simultaneously with 1.7 litre normally aspirated engine."

Considering Soren with turbocharged engine is the most powerful car in the class of luxury car in Iranian market, he stated, "There is no output loss in this engine."

Zali stated, "The engine has the capability to be installed on Soren, Samand Sarir and all vehicles with D, E class and higher class of vehicles with the same power. He remembered, "In the past, for presenting the more powerful engine, the capacity and fuel consumption were increased while these factors in turbocharged engine in comparison with normally aspirated one are the same with more power."

Zali said, "The engine is prepared for mass production by the end of first six months of next Iranian year (March 2007 鈥

TEHRAN (Fars News Agency)- A car to be made by Iran, Malaysia and Turkey for the Islamic markets, in particular, and the rest of the world, in general, will be launched in 2011, the head of the Middle East's biggest car maker and partner in the project, Iran Khodro, said.



Manouchehr Manteghi, Chief Executive and President of the Iranian company, said Islamic countries would be behind all the investment and production.

Malaysia's Proton Chief Executive, Syed Zainal Abidin Syed Mohamed Tahir, said in November the three countries would develop the car with Islamic features such as a compass to determine the direction of Mecca.

But Tahir did not say when production would start. "This car will be produced with the latest technology and it will measure up to all global standards when it goes into different markets in 2011," Manteghi said.

But he denied that any Islamic features would be standard and said the car could be marketed in non-Muslim countries.

"Each Islamic country can order the additional equipment based on its own needs. In addition to Islamic countries, this car is capable of being presented in all global markets," Manteghi said.

Manteghi said his firm, which produced more than 525,000 cars and pick-up trucks in 2006/07, was chosen by the Organization of The Islamic Conference (OIC) to lead the project.

This car will be sold for about 6,000 to 8,000 Euros. He said the main target markets would be in Africa, the Middle East and southeast Asia.

Iran's Samand Soon to Enter Senegalese Market

TEHRAN (Fars News Agency)- Tehran's ambassador to Dakar said that Iran's car manufacturing plant in Senegal would introduce its first products to the local market in the near future.













Jahanbakhsh Soltani made the remarks in a meeting with Senegalese Industries and Mines Minister Madicke Niang, where he briefed the official about the latest conditions of the assembly line for the production of Iran-made Samand passenger cars in Senegal.

The Senegalese minister, for his part, voiced pleasure in the two sides' cooperation and investments made for the production of Samand in his country.

He also praised Iran's industrial potentials and proposed that a group of Senegalese capital-holders and industrialists take a trip to Iran to visit Iran's industrial centers in person.

The Samand-manufacturing plant, founded through joint venture and with the annual production capacity of 5,000 cars , is located in an industrial complex 60 kilometers from the capital, Dakar.

Once the plant starts production, Senegal would join the very small club of African car-manufacturing countries.

Samand trade name is now registered at the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO).

Iran-Khodro group, the Iranian car manufacturer and owner of Samand, is the first Iranian company whose product is registered at the WIPO.

The state will ensure against the fraudulent use of the name, industrial design, and copying of the product manufactured by the company worldwide.

Azerbaijan, Belarus, Syria, Vietnam, Venezuela and China are among the many world countries which either have asked for or are already assembling this popular Middle-Class automobile.

Meanwhile, many other world countries, including Turkey, Bangladesh and Pakistan are considered as established importers of petrol and gas-powered Samand models with left and right-hand steering-wheels.

Marketing researches have shown that given the financial capability of South Asian markets and the competitive advantage that Iran enjoys, Iran-Khodro can gain a foothold in many world markets in a relatively short period of time.

The company has other automobile production ventures with foreign countries and companies in a bid to market share for increased exports to regional markets.

Earlier Croatian Ambassador to Tehran said that the people of East Europe are waiting for the Iranian-made passenger car 'Samand'.

She also said that after the launch of operation of Samand assembly line in Azerbaijan and Belarus, the manufacturing company, Iran-Khodro, now has better chances for gaining access to the CIS and East European markets.

According to the diplomat, Iran-Khodro officials have announced that they would soon start exports of Samand to Poland, while the company is now studying other East European markets, including Romania and the republics of former Yugoslavia.

Iran has just started export of the latest model of Samand to 32 different countries.

Manouchehr Manteqi, Managing Director of Iran-Khodro Car Manufacturing Company, recently mentioned that the said countries are among customers of Iran-Khodro, which have imported Samand LX and GLX before, adding that his company has planned to manufacture 8,000 Samand Suren in the next five months, 1,200 of which would be exported to the aforementioned countries.

Samand Suren, Iran's first passenger car achieving Euro III emission standard, rolled off the assembly line several months ago.

Aside from reducing its exhaust gas pollutants, the fuel consumption of the sedan has also been cut, and as a result of the modifications made to the new models of Samand, particularly its Engine Management System (EMS), the engine performance has been significantly enhanced.

Better drive ability, knock reduction and improvement in the engine's power output are cited as other changes made to the earlier model, according to the company officials.

Manteqi said Iran-Khodro has plans to export 600,000 cars and USD10 bln worth of products by 2016.

"To achieve this goal, we have decided to double our exports," he continued.

Manteqi said that Iran-Khodro's exports amounted to USD150 mln and USD315 mln in 2005 and 2006, respectively, adding that his company will export USD600 mln worth of products in the current Iranian year (ending on March 20th, 2008).

The company has other products including different models of Peugeot.

Iranian Industries and Mines Minister Ali Akbar Mehrabian paid a visit to Egypt last week to attend an inauguration ceremony marking the official launch of operation of the assembly line of Iranian Peugeot Pars passenger car in the African country.

Meantime, Iran, in cooperation with Malaysia and Turkey, is due to make a car for the Islamic markets, in particular, and the rest of the world, in general. According to Manteqi, the assembly line for the production of the said car will launch operation in 2011.

Fox News TV (Amerika Syarikat) di dalam temuramahnya bertanya kepada Presiden Iran, Dr Mahmoud Ahmadinejad "Apabila anda melihat ke cermin setiap pagi, apa yang anda perkatakan kepada diri sendiri ?" Beliau menjawab : Saya melihat kepada insan yang berada dalam cermin tersebut dan berkata kepadanya, "Ingatlah, anda adalah tidak lebih daripada seorang hamba yang lemah, menanti di hadapan anda hari ini adalah sebuah tanggungjawab yang amat berat dan ianya adalah berkhidmat kepada negara dan rakyat Iran.

Ahmadinejad, Presiden Iran yang mengejutkan ramai sewaktu mula-mula tiba di pejabat Presiden apabila beliau mendermakan segala permaidani Iran yang berharga kepada sebuah masjid di Tehran dan menggantikannya dengan permaidani murah yang biasa.



Beliau mendapati bahawa terdapat sebuah bilik istirahat yang besar lagi mewah yang berfungsi untuk menerima dan menyambut kehadiran tetamu VIP, lalu beliau telah mengarahkan agar bilik itu ditutup dan meminta pejabat protokol untuk menyediakan sebuah bilik lain yang sederhana serta hanya dilengkapi dengan kerusi-kerusi kayu.

Beliau juga telah banyak kali turut bersama-sama dengan pekerja-pekerja majlis perbandaran untuk membersihkan jalan-jalan yang berada di sekitar kawasan rumah serta pejabatnya.

Di bawah pentadbirannya, setiap kali beliau melantik mana-mana individu untuk memegang jawatan menteri, beliau akan mengarahkan individu tersebut untuk menandatangani sebuah dokumen yang menggariskan pelbagai syarat-syarat yang perlu dipatuhi, terutamanya yang menekankan bahawa individu tersebut harus sentiasa kekal dalam kesederhanaan dan akaun-akaun persendirian serta milik ahli keluarganya akan sentiasa diperhatikan dan perlu meninggalkan pejabatnya kelak dalam keadaan yang bermaruah. Oleh itu, adalah satu kesalahan yang besar untuk individu tersebut dan ahli keluarganya mengambil kesempatan ke atas jawatan yang dipegangnya itu.

Perkara pertama yang beliau isytiharkan selepas memegang jawatan Presiden adalah pemilikan hartanya yang 'Besar' iaitu sebuah kereta Peugeot 504 model tahun 1977, sebuah rumah lama yang kecil yang diwarisi daripada bapanya 40 tahun yang lalu di salah sebuah kawasan yang termiskin di Tehran, akaun simpanannya yang tidak berbaki dan sumber kewangan yang masuk ke dalam akaunnya hanyalah daripada gaji yang diterimanya sebagai seorang pensyarah di Universiti yang berjumlah hanya 250 Dolar Amerika sebulan.

Beliau masih lagi tinggal di rumahnya yang lama itu. Itulah sahaja harta yang dimilikinya. Beginilah kehidupan seorang Presiden kepada salah sebuah negara yang terpenting di dunia ini, dari sudut lokasinya yang strategik, ekonomi, politik serta pemilikan sumber minyak dan sistem pertahanannya.

Beliau malah langsung tidak mengusik gaji Presidennya dengan sebuah hujjah bahawa segala kekayaan adalah menjadi hak milik negaranya dan beliau mempunyai amanah untuk memeliharanya.

Salah satu perkara yang amat menakjubkan buat kakitangan-kakitangan di pejabatnya adalah sebuah beg yang sentiasa dibawa setiap hari. Di dalamnya mengandungi makanan sarapan paginya, sedikit roti sandwic atau roti biasa dengan minyak zaitun dan keju yang disediakan oleh isterinya. Beliau menikmati makanan-makanan tersebut dengan begitu ceria sekali.

Perubahan lain yang dilakukannya adalah menukar jet peribadinya sebagai seorang Presiden menjadi kapal terbang kargo untuk menjimatkan perbelanjaan daripada hasil wang rakyat dan beliau menegaskan bahawa beliau akan terbang menggunakan pesawat awam biasa pada kelas ekonomi.

Beliau kerap mengadakan mesyuarat dengan semua para menteri untuk mengetahui segala aktiviti mereka dan keberkesanan pelaksanaannya.

Di samping itu, beliau juga telah menutup pejabat pengurus Presiden demi untuk memudahkan para menteri untuk berjumpa dengannya tanpa perlu meminta keizinan terlebih dahulu.

Beliau telah membubarkan beberapa acara seperti majlis karpet merah untuk menyambut tetamu, sesi fotografi serta segala bentuk pengiklanan atau promosi peribadi sewaktu mengadakan lawatan ke pelbagai tempat di dalam negaranya.

Setiap kali beliau perlu untuk menginap di hotel, beliau akan memastikan bahawa beliau hanya akan diberikan bilik tanpa katil yang besar kerana tidak gemar untuk tidur di atas katil sebaliknya lebih suka untuk tidur di atas lantai dengan sebuah tilam sederhana dan sehelai kain selimut.

Dalam salah sebuah gambar berikut menunjukkan beliau sedang tidur di dalam bilik tetamu di rumahnya tanpa ditemani oleh para pengawal peribadinya yang sentiasa bersama dengannya ke mana sahaja beliau pergi. Gambar tersebut telah diambil oleh adiknya, menurut laporan akhbar Wifaq yang kemudian menyiarkannya di dalam ruangan akhbar mereka. Pada keesokan harinya, gambar tersebut telah disiarkan di dalam kebanyakan akhbar-akhbar di seluruh dunia termasuklah di Amerika Syarikat.

Sewaktu ingin menunaikan solat, anda boleh lihat yang beliau tidak duduk di barisan pertama. Gambar yang lain pula menunjukkan beliau sedang menikmati hidangan makanannya yang amat sederhana.

Youngman and Khodro ready to seperate already?




It seems that Jinan Youngman, who recently went on a joint venture shopping spree is ready to terminate its joint venture with the Iranian Khodro group.

Youngman recently signed up with Proton to bring the Gen2 Racer to China under an OEM re-badging deal, Youngman also signed up with ZAP to possibly make some kind of electric car, and also with the Iranian car company Khodro

It seems that the decision to separate is a mutual one, as Youngman wish to further their own brand, Europestar (the brand which carries the Gen2 racer) and Khodro have signed a deal with Chery in Iran which they wish to concentrate on.

The Youngman Khodro joint venture would have seen the Iranian marque produce its cars in Tai抋n, Shandong province. The two parties reportedly injected 60 million dollars into the joint ventureship, and were planning to pour upto 200 million dollars into it once production was up and running. Youngman have a 70 percent stake in the deal, and Khodro own a 30% stake. The original plan was to produce the Khodro Saren, and the Samand LX in China. The Samand LX seems to be based on an older Peugoet 405 design.

The factory that was planned to be producing Khodro cars in late 2008, isnt yet built - this automotive divorce (clearly the result of a shotgun joint venture) may well be a messy one.

China's Youngman Auto Group and Iranian automaker Khodro are in talks for a divorce, Shanghai Securities News reported today.

It's very likely that Youngman Auto and Khodro's cooperation may end up in a divorce, a senior Youngman Auto official said on deep background.

Youngman Auto is currently focusing a joint program with Lotus cars of the United Kingdom and Proton Auto of Malaysia while Khodro is seeking cooperation project with Chery Auto in Iran, the Shanghai Securities News said.

Back in 2006, China's Youngman Auto and Iranian automaker Khodro formed a 70:30 joint venture project in the city of Tai An, Shandong province. The two sides have injected US$60 mln in initial investment. The joint plant is expected to start production by June 2008.

The project, with a projected total investment of US$200 mln, is designed to produce 120,000 vehicles annually. In this joint project, Iran Khodro holds 30 percent stake and Jinhua Young Man Automobile holds the remaining 70 percent, Xinhua News Agencey said.

Iran has launched a production line for a homemade fuel-efficient engine which consumes only 5.4 liters of gasoline per 100 kms.

The line launched by the giant auto manufacturing Iran Khodro Company will be installed on Iranian-made Peugeot 206, 405 and Pars as well as Samand sedans running on dual-fuel facilities.

Iran Khodro, the Middle East's biggest giant automaker, is planned to manufacture 50,000 units of the engines per year in the short- and 400,000 in the long-run.

Iran introduced a rationing plan in late June last year to cut lavish consumption of highly subsidized gasoline.

The world's fourth largest oil producers lacks refining facilities, thereby necessitating it to import fuel each year, which burdens state coffers.

The ministry of industries and mines had called on Iranian automakers, in July, to use fuel-efficient and high standard spare parts in vehicle production.

The other policy pursued by the Iranian government is to stop production of gasoline-fuelled cars. In an announcement by the ministry, all vehicles produced from July 23 onwards would have dual-fuel facilities installed.

Over 60 percent of vehicles manufactured by Iran Khodro are bi-fuel.
