This show is really entertaining and it's quite funny. It's currently the number 1 show on primetime. Marian is quite the revelation here. I think she's doing justice to Thalia's Marimar. Plus the chemistry between Marian and Dingdong is amazing! Hope you guys get to watch it!
this marian girl is such a hott babe! no wonder she's the first choice for playing marimar.. she is prettier than angel big time! i heard she's a new actress. all the best in her career.
I heard Angel was actually the first choice to play marimar but she turned it down. Marian is not new to soap operas but she used to play only supporting roles until she got the lead in Marimar. My friend told me she usually gets "mother" roles in soaps even if she's not that old.
There seems to be nothing new on TV these days except for recent noontime clashes that combined network war and reality TV. But save for that, we have the competing time slots practically presenting the same brand of entertainment, clashing networks on the side, controversial characters acting like heathen coals to an otherwise quiet fire that is the battle of the big channels.
After browsing through scandals on youtube.com and growing impatient on requests for sample episodes of "Marimar" from GMA7, we tried scanning uploaded episodes of the remake series and to our surprise, the youtube has nearly uninterrupted and almost complete episodes of the former Mexican telenovela that swept the country to nightly TV captivity years ago on RPN9.
Those who have been following "Mari Mar," the story of the innocent, fish-out-of-water (or in Mari Mar抯 case fish-out-of-the-ocean) character know that she (Marian Rivera) is the central character used by Sergio Santiba馿z (Dingdong Dantes) to get back at his ex-girlfriend Angelika (Katrina Halili) who married his father Renato (Richard Gomez) for wealth抯 sake.

MariMar is a remake of the Thalia telenovela "MariMar".
Plot (Spoilers!!)
Lupita married Gustavo at the beginning and gave birth to a baby girl. But her mother in-law, Dolores, wasnt fond of her and hired a man to be Lupita's "lover". Gustavo thought that Lupita had indeed cheated on him and Dolores kicked Lupita and the baby girl out of the house. When Gustavo found out that it was his mother's scheme to get rid of his wife, it was too late and he couldn't find Lupita and his daughter anymore. Lupita named the baby girl "MariMar" and took her into hiding. Gustavo, heartbroken, moved away from his parents until seven years later, his cousin, Esperanza, brought him the news of his parents' death. Gustavo inherited everything his parents owned and one day, he bumped into Lupita's friend, Silva, who told him where Lupita and MariMar were. Gustavo hurried to look for his wife and daughter, which he eventually suceeded. Lupita forgave him and he finally met his daughter. They were on a plane ride back when the plane crashed into the sea. Lupita died in the plane crash and MariMar was lost. Gustavo once again lost his family.
MariMar was found by a childless couple, Cruz and Pancho, when she was washed ashore on an island. They named her MariMar after her pendant on her necklace. MariMar suffered from amnesia and couldn't remember a thing.
Many years later, MariMar grew up with her Lola Cruz and Lolo Pancho, into a beautiful and naive young woman. She first met Sergio Santibanez when she accidentally snuck into his family home and tried to steal some fruits. Sergio asked MariMar to marry her, to go against his father who married his ex-girlfriend, Angelika. Angelika, who was obviously still in love with Sergio, made MariMar's life into a living hell in the Santibanez mansion.
However, MariMar has fallen in love with Sergio. Sergio first found MariMar annoying but grew to love her, even though he never told her that. When he left for Macau to join a car racing competition, MariMar was left behind and she was pregnant with his child. He never knew.
Angelika continued to torment MariMar's life. MariMar finally decided to leave San Martin de la Costa after Angelika's attempt to kill her and the death of her adoptive grandparents from a fire under Angelika's order. She faked her death and moved to Manila, changing her name into Bella. She managed to stumble upon Innocencia and her mother, who helped kept her safe from the Santibanez family. MariMar then gave birth to a baby girl she named Cruzita after her Lola Cruz. MariMar harboured hatred for Sergio, who she believed never loved her anyway. She then got a job as a maid at a Aldama mansion.The Aldama Mansion owner's actually MariMar's real father, Gustavo, and he lived there with his cousin, Esperanza.
Sergio came back from Macau and searched for MariMar; he almost gave up hope and moved on with another woman, Kim, when he caught a glimpse of MariMar again. Gustavo at first didn't know that MariMar was her daughter because Natalia who was greedy, came in with MariMar's pendant necklace and claimed that she was his missing daughter. MariMar kept quiet all the while, when she knew that she was the real MariMar. Natalia was afraid that her secret will be revealed and attempted to kill MariMar in an explosion. MariMar survived the explosion and she managed to regain her memory before the plane crash when she was young. After a DNA test and Esperanza's help, MariMar was acknowledged as the real daughter of Gustavo. He however died from a heart attack and left his fortune to her. Esperanza and Innocencia helped MariMar transform into a completely different woman, with a new name, Bella Aldama.
Marimar/Bella moved to US with her daughter.
Four years later, MariMar returned with her daughter and an old friend whom she met at the Santibanez mansion many years ago, Corazon was hired to be her daughter's nanny. Rodolfo San Jinez tried to pursue her, because his company was suffering massive losses. Rodolfo invited MariMar/Bella to a masquerade party. At the party, MariMar/Bella came face to face with Sergio, her past. Sergio, by now,was almost convinced that MariMar's still alive. He didn't give up, until he met Corazon, who was told by MariMar/Bella to lie to Sergio, that MariMar died with her daughter years ago when he was at Macau.
Sergio went to the grave and begged for forgiveness. He by now believed that MariMar's dead.
However, after many incidents and after saving Bella's daughter, Cruzita, in an accident, he found out that his wife and daughter are still alive. He went to dig the grave and found an empty coffin. He and Cruzita reunited as father and daughter, and he now tries to earn Bella/MariMar's trust again. Unknown to them however, Angelika's plotting her schemes to get rid of everyone against her, especially, Bella Aldama.

Citer ini baru saja habis kat Philippines. I managed to catch a bit of it here and there. Astro should buy this over and air it!! Marian Rivera sgt cantik, pandai lakon, mukanya macam Thalia jugak; ada yang kata dia akan jadi Rosalinda kalaula GMA-7 nak produce "Rosalinda".
