Former AKB48 member turns to AV
Sat, June 26, 2010 (5:51pm EDT)

Reports have spread that former AKB48 member Rina Nakanishi (22) is entering the world of AV. It started with a full nude gravure appearance in the most recent issue of FRIDAY and will continue with her first adult DVD in August.

Nakanishi was one of the first generation members of AKB48, but she graduated from the group in November 2008. On June 6, 2010, she wrote in her official fan club blog that she was returning to her hometown in Oita, seemingly to take a break and to refresh herself. However, it appears that she is really just undergoing an image change, moving into the adult industry under the stage name "Rico Yamaguchi."

The news seems to have first been broken by the magazine Shukan Taishu, whose June 21 issue reported that a former AKB48 member was going to make her AV debut. At the time, a writer for Cyzo speculated that the girl in question was Nakanishi. On June 25, that guess was confirmed when her nude photos appeared in FRIDAY, and AV company Alice Japan announced the debut DVD of Rico Yamaguchi, scheduled to go on sale on August 27. In addition, it has also been announced that Yamaguchi will get her first nude photobook titled "Departure" on July 13.

Momoiro Clover unknowingly stars in horror film
Sat, June 26, 2010 (11:07pm EDT)

The six members of idol unit Momoiro Clover, who released their first major label single just last month, will star in their first movie. The film is titled "Shirome" and is being handled by horror director Koji Shiraishi.

On Saturday, Momoiro Clover held a live performance in Shibuya to commemorate the second anniversary of their formation. During the encore, their staff announced the news about "Shirome," which was a complete surprise to the girls themselves.

The movie was filmed earlier this month, but the members of Momoiro Clover were originally told that it was for a television program, in order to capture the girls' real reactions. The show was purportedly a special about ghost spots, so they filmed at an abandoned school in the Tochigi prefecture.

The story of the actual movie is about six girls who trespass into an abandoned school in an attempt to have their wishes granted by a mysterious entity known as "Shirome." The movie is said to be shot in the style of a fake documentary and with a low budget, similar to films such as "The Blair Witch Project" and "Paranormal Activity."

"Shirome" will begin playing in theaters on August 13.

The Nikkan Sports newspaper has chosen half of the nominees for its Fan Awards in the 23rd Nikkan Sports Film Awards, being held this December. A total of 9,364 votes were collected, and the #1 domestic film was Takeshi Kobayashi's " BANDAGE," which stars KAT-TUN member Jin Akanishi (25).

Yonekura-Okamoto rumors resurface
Wed, June 30, 2010 (7:47pm EDT)

The latest issue of Josei Seven reports that actress Ryoko Yonekura (34) and actor Kenichi Okamoto (41) are in a relationship. The two were recently seen together on a date.

Josei Seven published photos of Okamoto driving Yonekura's car and picking her up. Inside the car, they were seen talking with their faces close together.

The two met when they worked together on the 2005 drama special "Kurokawa no Techou," and then again for the stage version of the drama in 2006. In the summer of 2008, an evening tabloid reported that the two were seen holding hands on a date, but both of them denied it.

With regard to Josei Seven's article, Yonekura's agency again stated that the two are just friends. Okamoto's agency said it had no particular comment on the rumor.

In 1992, Okamoto married a former model, who gave birth to Keito Okamoto (now in Hey! Say! JUMP). They divorced in 2007.

Tokyo Disneyland reopens Michael Jackson's 3-D attraction

Friday 02nd July, 06:00 AM JST

CHIBA —

Tokyo Disneyland on Thursday reopened a 3-D theater attraction featuring the late entertainment icon Michael Jackson for the first time in about 14 years. The theme park will run ‘‘Captain EO’’ for a limited time through June 30, 2011. The film starring Jackson, who died suddenly in June 2009, was directed by Francis Ford Coppola, with George Lucas serving as its executive producer.

‘‘I enjoyed it when I saw it more than 10 years ago, so I wanted to show it to my 5-year-old daughter,’’ said Seishi Yamabe, a 51-year-old company employee from Kawasaki, Kanagawa Prefecture, who came with his family.

A 21-year-old college student from Itami, Hyogo Prefecture, said she was ‘‘overwhelmed’’ by the attraction. ‘‘I became a fan of Michael,’’ she said.

The film was shown at the theme park between 1987 and 1996 and gained popularity through Jackson’s dazzling dance performances.
