same. spirit and souls are same

This is my definition of Spirit and soul.

the word "soul" is also often used to refer to that inner life of a person which is neither body nor necessarily spirit. By the way, the word "spirit" can also refer to many aspects of the mind that are, in this scheme, more accurately labeled "soul".

I won't use that sense of the word "spirit" here. In this way of looking at things, the "spirit" really is a mysterious, small thing. It is the well-spring of volition, but the will itself must be worked out within the abstract reality of the mind. The soul, or non-spirit/non-body apect of the soul, is really *formed* by the hosting of the spirit by the body -- ie, it is a dynamically created byproduct of human life. Thus it is shaped by both the individual spirit and the body that houses it.

The meaning of the term "soul" as commonly understood is  often refers to a combination of human heart and mind as encapsulating spiritual 'insight' or aspiration.

Thus, there is a directional aspect here in relation to how one perceives and consequently orients him or herself to, and thus endeavors to navigate life.

Islamic Perspectives of Human Nature and Spiritual Dimension

In his professorial inaugural lecture, Hassan Langgulung1 explained that human being is of dual nature; non-material (mujarrad) and material (m?d?). Human spirit (r?) is non-material, which is from the realm of command (?lam al-amr). On the other hand, human body (jasad) is material, which is from the realm of creation (?lam al-khalq). Additionally, spirit is transcendent and is the centre of human being. The soul (nafs) is the intermediate between spirit and body. The nafs is attached downward the body for its corporeal (dunyaw?) tendency. In contrast, the soul (nafs) is attached upward the spirit for its spiritual (ukhraw?) tendency.

Additionally, it is worth of note to understand the word ins?. In Arabic Language, ins? means human, which is derived from the Arabic verb anisa to be sociable. From that word came the words of Ins?iyyah  means humanity and IIns??  means humanitarian2 . Accordingly, based on the previous work done by Hasan Langgulung3 and Ahmed M. Raba4 , a step further was then derived by Siti Aishah Hassan5 to explain the various human dimensions.
