Make perfect sense because if the current trend continues, the LCCT traffic will overtake the MTB traffic soon, and AirAsia will overtake MAS as the largest airlines in the country too.

This could be a very positive development because with the largest LCC based in KLIA, KLIA has more chances to stake its claim as the air hub in the region. Previously, we simply have no chance against the like of Changi cos they have a strong SIA while our MAS was struggling all the time.

LOW-COST CARRIER TERMINAL: Clear case of poor planning

It's discouraging to hear that the Low-Cost Carrier Terminal at the KL International Airport seems to be an example of the failure of the authorities (Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd) to plan long term for the country's infrastructure.

I recall that there was a rush to complete the LCCT, perhaps because there was a perception then that it was necessary to get it operational before the budget terminal at Singapore's Changi Airport.

Surely Malaysia Airports could have done a better job with the planning, in terms of passenger handling capacity, infrastructure and support systems.

It now appears that Mal-aysia Airports is going to expand the LCCT while a new LCCT is being built nearer to the KLIA.
Why couldn't Malaysia Airports get it right for the LCCT at KLIA the first time around?

By coincidence, I was taken on a tour of the new Terminal 3 at Changi Airport recently. There's only one word to describe it: awesome.

The attention to details in all aspects is something Malaysia Airports could learn from

Untuk anda yg ada ura2 mahu naik airasia tahun depan ke Singapura, iini ada sedikit info ttg Singapore Low Cost Terminal..ia akan mula beroperasi pada 9 Jan '08..Untuk kemana2 dari Terminal 3 (Singapore LCCT) anda hanya perlu naik skytrain (tambang adalah percuma) ke terminal 1 kemudian dari situ anda boleh menaiki bas atau MRT (sila tanya dikaunter yg disediakan atau ikut signboard yg telah disediakan)

Big expansion plan for LCCT

A BIG expansion plan has been made for the low-cost carrier terminal(LCCT) in Sepang, and construction work is expected to start soon.  
The expansion project, located next to the LCCT international departurearea, will increase the terminal抯 maximum capacity by 50% from thecurrent 10 million to 15 million passengers annually.
According to Malaysia Airports Holdings Berhad (MAHB) senior generalmanager (operations) Datuk Azmi Murad, the details of the expansionplan are being discussed with the government.
                       
Busy point: Azmi (in suit) inspecting the luggage checking area at the LCCT terminal.
揟he expansion work is expected to be completedbetween nine and 12 months. Based on our projection, the terminalshould reach its maximum capacity of 15 million by 2011,拻 he said.
Azmi said this during a recent media briefing of the LCCT expansion programme in Sepang.
He said that so far, the LCCT had been able to handle the increasing number of passengers, mostly Air Asia customers.
Azmi said there was still sufficient room to accommodate more passengers until the expansion project was completed.
                       
Hive of activity:The ticketingcounter will bestrengthened withmore manpowerfor passengersconvenience inline with LCCT抯expansion plans.
He said as of Nov 25, the LCCT had already recorded atotal of 6.7 million passengers and would likely hit the seven millionmark before the end of this year.
揟he passenger volume is increasing and it is imperative that theexpansion be completed on time. We will keep to schedule,拻 he said.
Azmi said that the MAHB was also looking into complaints aboutinsufficient seating both at the main and international terminallounges.
He said that other factors contributing to the congestion at the LCCT would also be studied.
揂part from increasing the number of chairs, the number of parking lotswould also be increased from the current 1,100 to 1,350 to complementthe expansion,拻 he said.
Azmi said passengers could look forward to an improvement in baggagescanning procedures, check-in counters, more eating outlets andsystematic feeder bus services operating between the LCCT and the mainterminal building.

hari tu naik ERL dari KLIA ke Putrajaya..ingatkan ERL dah tak ada after 12 midnight...rupa-rupanya ada ...mula naik 12.05 tapi ERL mula bergerak 1 tgh mlm...sementara menunggu tu, sempat doze off.

takde tempat tidur..ada juga org tidur kat kaki lima.. ataupun u boleh lepak kat foodcourt kat hujung nun..foodcourt tu mmg tak ramai org..rasanyer buka 24 hours..

masa check in boleh request xpress boarding + buat bayaran kat kaunter check in gak....

bukan apa ... aku fly dari KT malam.. jam 1030 sampai LCCT.. nak menunggu flight pagi esoknya ke Bandung.. masa balik sampai malam jugak.. pagi esoknya flight blk kt.. dua malam aku kena tido airport... kalau klia tu aku dah biasa buat dahh..
