Fujigaya Taisuke and Kitayama Hiromitsu as Students in a New School Drama

Starting in January, in the new drama [Misaki Number One!!] (22:00~), Kis-My-Ft2's Fujigaya (23) and Kitayama (25) have been decided to play the leaders of the problem students. Hiding the fact that she's Roppongi's number one cabaret dancer, the story is that the protagonist, played by actress Karina (26), has become an enthusiastic school teacher. Fujigaya declared excitedly, "It's the first time I've been in a school drama, or been in a drama with another member of Kis-My-Ft2, so it'll be totally fun." And Kitayama, "From until now, although I've watched school dramas, the two of us will be performing in one, so I'm really nervous/excited. With Fujigaya, we're working hard on our characters, so I'm thinking that I want to put out a good performance," was his comment.

Kis-My-Ft2's Fujigaya, Kitayama join Karina in "Misaki No. 1!!"

More cast members have been revealed for the drama series "Misaki No. 1!!" that was announced last week. In particular, two members of the Johnny's Jr. group Kis-My-Ft2 will play major roles: Taisuke Fujigaya (23) and Hiromitsu Kitayama (25).

Based on a manga series by Masato Fujisaki, the drama features Karina as a top Roppongi hostess who winds up as a temporary teacher for a class of problematic high school students. The show's staff includes several members of the team behind the similar "Gokusen" drama series.

Misaki Tennoji's (Karina) students are members of the second-year "Z Class." Fujigaya plays the part of Kazuma Kujo, who holds the status of leader within the class, while Kitayama plays Kujo's accomplice Ryosuke Minato, who serves as a "mood maker" for the class.

This is Fujigaya's first drama role since the 2007 special "Byakkotai," and the first ever for Kitayama. Fujigaya remarked that he is looking forward to the part very much, since it is his first school drama and his first drama with another member of Kis-My-Ft2.

Other cast members that have been revealed include Tomohiro Ichikawa (19), Kei Tanaka (26), Asami Usuda (26), Yuichi Tsuchiya (31), Yu Tejima (26), Yumi Kobayashi (22), Ayaka Komatsu (24), Muga Tsukaji (39), Keiko Toda (53), Naomi Zaizen (44), and Akio Kaneda (56).

The drama will air on Wednesday nights on NTV, starting in January.

Johnny’s Jr. TV music festival on New Year’s Eve

More than 250 Johnny’s Jr. boys, NYC, Tomohisa Yamashita (NEWS), and Kazuya Kamenashi (KAT-TUN) took part in the first “New Year’s Young 東西歌合戦 (Tozai Uta Gassen)!” on November 27 in Tokyo’s NHK Hall, reports Sponichi Annex,

The music special saw teams of Yuma Nakayama (16) & Kansai Jrs. and A.B.C-Z & Tokyo Jrs., with talents aged between 10 and 27 years-old, compete in a singing fight off as they performed 22 songs released by their Johnny’s seniors.  The show is scheduled to be aired on TV on New Year’s Eve.

NHK Kohaku Uta Gassen competitors NYC (Ryosuke Yamada, Yuri Chinen, Nakayama) also made an appearance at the show, which was held at the same venue as where they will be in a month’s time.

“Last year I was so nervous I don’t remember anything.  I hope I can relax this year,” Yamada said.
The group performed their single “よく遊びよく学べ (Yoku Asobi Yoku Manabe)”.

Other guest appearances included seniors Yamashita (25) and Kamenashi (24).

The show also announced a new Jr. group “ジャPAニーズ HI(ハイ)! (JaPAnese  HI!)”.

Johnny’s & Associates president Johnny Kitagawa has been reported to have said he hopes the show would evolve into an annual show, acting like the supporting act to Kohaku Uta Gassen.

“Tozai Uta Gassen” will be shown on Japanese TV on New Year’s Eve from 3pm on TV Asahi.

Johnny's Jrs. hold "Tozai Uta Gassen," reveal new 52-member group

On Saturday, approximately 250 members of Johnny's Jimusho participated in a concert event at NHK Hall in Tokyo. Titled "Nenmatsu Young Tozai Uta Gassen," three separate performances were held that day, revolving around an "East vs. West" battle between the Johnny's Jr. and Kansai Johnny's Jr. groups. A.B.C.-Z led the East team, while Yuma Nakayama (16) led the Kansai side. The program featured more than 20 songs, including a special medley of hits by popular Johnny's Jimusho artists.

During the medley, the Jrs. were joined on stage by several special guests: Tackey & Tsubasa (for Shonentai's "Kamen Butoukai"), Kazuya Kamenashi (for Masahiko Kondo's "Sneaker Blues"), Tomohisa Yamashita (for SMAP's "Shake"), and NYC (for Arashi's "A-RA-SHI"). Kamenashi and Yamashita (as Shuji to Akira) also performed their song "Seishun Amigo."

One of the highlights was when all 250 attending performers sang Masahiko Kondo's "Midnight Shuffle." Another was the introduction of a new Johnny's Jr. group called "Japanese HI!," written as ジャPAニーズ HI! Some news sources, such as Oricon, report the group's name as simply ジャPAニーズ. Oricon also notes that the group consists of 52 Johnny's Jr. trainees.

The last of the three concerts on Friday will be broadcast by TV Asahi as a special program on New Year's Eve at 3:30pm.

Hey! Say! JUMP's Yamada, Chinen continue cheering for volleyball tournament
Sun, December 5, 2010 (9:42am EST)

Fuji TV has announced that Hey! Say! JUMP members Ryosuke Yamada (17) and Yuri Chinen (17) will be the official supporters for the 63rd All Japan High School Volleyball Championship, which is being held on January 5-9, 2011. This will be their 4th consecutive year as supporters for the tournament - they did it as part of Hey! Say! JUMP in 2008 and 2009, and as part of Hey! Say! 7 in 2010.

Also known as "Haruko" ("spring high"), the tournament has been held every March since 1970. Due to its timing around graduation season, 3rd-year students have been unable to participate until now. To solve that problem, the tournament was finally abolished and re-established as a January tournament starting in 2011. Although it will still be referred to by the nickname "Haruko," its official name has been changed from the High School Volleyball Championship to the All Japan High School Volleyball Championship, a name that previously referred to another national tournament held every August in conjunction with the Inter-High School Championships. (Thus, it will be the 63rd All Japan High School Volleyball Championship and not the 42nd High School Volleyball Championship.)

As in previous years, Yamada and Chinen will be at the tournament cheering on the teams and interviewing players. They will also perform Hey! Say! JUMP's song "FLY," which has been chosen as the tournament's image song.
