Nadal Backs Diego's Madrid Move

It seems as if Spanish tennis player Rafael Nadal is trying to convince Werder Bremen star Diego to join Real Madrid, according to Marca.

Nadal played in the Davis cup match between Spain and Germany, where the Brazilian international was a spectator. The two have met and mingled and, according to reports, Nadal discussed the possibility of the playmaker making a move to Madrid to play for Real.

Nadal is known to be a Madridista and Marca is suggesting that the tennis world number two is acting as the go-between for Predrag Mijatovic and Ramon Calderon.

Diego has been a target for Real Madrid for quite some time and he has been linked with several major clubs including Juventus. In the past, the 23-year-old has admitted his interest in the Santiago Bernabeu outfit.

He is one of European football抯 hottest properties and it seems like he will end up plying his trade for a European heavyweight next season, with Real and Juve leading the way.

However, it may not prove to be so easy, as he has also stated that he is "content" in Bremen and the club are most reluctant to sell.

The Daily Mail says president Ramon Calderon has reluctantly conceded he has little chance of signing Manchester United's free-scoring winger this summer but is adamant a deal must be done in time for the 2009/10 campaign.
