Not questioning PM is why Najib ruled for 9 years, MP says in defence of Rafizi
Subang MP Wong Chen has come to PKR vice-president Rafizi Ramli's defence, after the latter came under heavy criticism from netizens for saying that Dr Mahathir Mohamad did not consult PKR on the appointment of ministers.
Wong Chen said Rafizi merely did not want to see Mahathir's government start off on the wrong foot, and as such, dared to tegur (speak out against) the prime minister.
"And for this he is villified by most of you. It is precisely this unhealthy attitude of Malaysians never to question authority, that is the main reason why we allowed Rosmah and Najib to rule us for 9 years," Wong said in a Facebook posting today.
Mahathir earlier announced DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng as finance minister, Bersatu president Muhyiddin Yassin as home minister, and Amanah president Mohamad Sabu as defence minister.
According to the Federal Constitution, the appointment of cabinet ministers is made by the Yang di-Pertuan Agong on the advice of the prime minister.
Rafizi, however, claimed that the prime minister bulldozed the announcement without consulting PKR.
Wong explained that PKR was the largest party in the new government, with 47 MPs and one independent MP aligned with them.
Thus, he said when no portfolio was announced for PKR, Rafizi spoke out.
"Nothing yet for PKR, the single largest party in Pakatan? So what did Rafizi do that is so wrong in the eyes of the public?
"He is telling truth to power that these appointments were made without PKR consent. Then he tells us that Dr.Mahathir will see Anwar in hospital to consult Anwar and hopefully they can discuss and rectify the issue," he said.
Malaysiakini understands that Mahathir was at the Cheras rehabilitation hospital where Anwar is being held, and had left at close to 7pm without meeting the media.
At a press conference earlier today, the prime minister said that all four Harapan parties had been asked to submit three names each, for the remaining seven ministerial portfolios which have yet to be taken up.
The seven portfolios are for the Education Ministry, Rural Development Ministry, Economy Ministry, Works Ministry, Transport Ministry, Multimedia, Science and Tech Ministry, and Foreign Ministry. |

PETALING JAYA: Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad says his government had to "act quickly" to prevent former premier Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak (pic) from leaving the country.
He said this was done due to the many complaints against him.
"We had to act quickly so that we are not saddled by extradition (requests) to other countries," he told a press conference at Menara Yayasan Selangor on Saturday.
Asked if he would order the declassification of the Auditor-General's report on 1MDB under the Official Secrets Act, Dr Mahathir said this must be done.

He also said that former Bank Negara governor Tan Sri Zeti Aziz would not lead the investigation into 1MDB as she was now part of the council of elders.
He said the investigation into 1MDB must be reopened as soon as possible.
"It is a complex matter involving a lot of people and a lot of decisions.
"Our priority is to get back the 1MDB money.
"We will see which report was buried and not buried," he said.

Piji bukan MP pon. Not even a senior leader in pakatan harapan coalition... tapi cara merempan macam dia ni besar & hebat sangat.

Deiii.... ada lagi 7 ministries yg tak announce.. tuu ko balun lahh semua. Merajuk tak tentu pasal. Nanti anwar keluar dia jadik pm, dia reshuffle lahh kalau tak puas hati sgt.
Org susah payah vote ko untuk kesejahteraan negara, yg ko pulak pikir pasal position & kuasa dalam kabinet.

Heshe mmg pandai bab accounting and auditing..... kan byak pendedahan heshe buat pasal salah guna wang, wang lesap... yg heshe nak kena penjara ni pn psal heshe pegi reveal report berkenaan audit menteri2 penyangak yg songlap duit kerajaan utk kepentingan sendiri.... kaji selidik heshe pn reliable dan selalunya 80% accurate.
Tapi tu lah. Pondan. Memekak je. Tak reti fikir sebelum bertindak. Tu pasal kalah dekat court. |
