New Drama “City Hunter” Exceeds Expectations

“City Hunter” started off with a bang yesterday, literally and figuratively, as viewers were introduced with scenes from Burma in 1983. Many non-Korean and young viewers are probably unaware that the bloody chaos Lee Yoon Sung’s (Lee Min Ho) biological and adopted father witnessed was based on a true story.
The 1983 Rangoon bombing was an assassination attempt on the then-South Korean President Chun Doo Hwan during his state visit to Burma. The former president’s car was delayed by traffic, and he narrowly escaped a disastrous fate. Unfortunately, the bomb killed 21 and wounded 46 people who were on-site waiting for the president. Those killed include presidential advisors, journalists, and security officials. The terror attack was allegedly orchestrated by North Korea; however, the South Korean administration could not uncover specific evidence.
Actors Park Sang Min, who played Lee Yoon Sung’s biological father Park Moo Yeol, and Kim Sang Joong, who plays his adopted father Lee Jin Pyo, displayed their charismatic acting skills with realistic action sequences. Park Sang Min is no stranger to playing a government agent. He received much acclaim for his role as Lee Sung Mo, a skilled Korean Intelligence Agency agent with a vengeance, in last year’s blockbuster drama “Giant.”
After the first episode, netizens commented, “The action scenes were very realistic,” “Park Sang Min and Kim Sang Joong’s acting were incredible,” and “The first episode exceeded my expectations” on “City Hunter’s” official website. According to data from ABG Nielson, “City Hunter’s” first episode achieved 10.5% viewership nationally. It narrowly beat former FinKL star Sung Yuri’s “Romance Town,” which achieved 10.3%. Cha Seung Won and Gong Hyo Jin’s “The Greatest Love” led the Wednesday night drama race with 17.4%.

City Hunter Lee Min Ho’s Targets: “Group of Five”

A lot of attention is focused on Yoon Sung, Lee Min Ho’s character on "City Hunter," and his targets who are being infamously called the “Group of Five.”
The Group of Five is made up of:
Choi Eung Chan (Played by Cheon Ho Jin)
Lee Kyung Wan (Played by Lee Hyo Jung)
Kim Jong Shik (Played by Choi Il Hwa)
Cheon Jae Man (Played by Choi Jung Woo)
Seo Yong Hak (Played by Choi Sang Hoon)
The five evil men or bosses as I would like to say are made up of Korean veteran actors. Here is a brief description of each character.
Choi Eung Chan (Played by Cheon Ho Jin) who used to be friends with Jin Pyo (Lee Min Ho’s adopted father character) and Park Mu Yeol (Lee Min Ho’s biological father). Due to political pressure the character helplessly watches as the team made by Jin Pyo and Park Mu Yeol are cut down. Jin Pyo probably wants more vengeance because they used to be friends, as seen in the photo that Yoon Sung (Lee Min Ho’s character) has. Choi Eung Chan will be the president in the drama and father of Choi Dae Hae (Goo Hara’s character)
Lee Kyung Wan (Played by Lee Hyo Jung) is a member of the South Korean National assembly. The character will have a double-personality.
Kim Jong Shik (Played by Choi Il Hwa) is also the father of Kim Young Joo. (Played by Lee Joon Hyuk) Kim Young Joo is a top prosecutor and he will probably have conflict with Yoon Sung. (Lee Min Ho’s character) The actor Choi Il Hwa also appeared on “Dream High.”
Seo Yong Hak (Played by Choi Sang Hoon) is the minister of national defense. The actor portraying him Choi Sang Hoon, is a veteran actor of 30 years.
Cheon Jae Man (Played by Choi Jung Woo) is a conglomerate CEO and the actor who portrays him has appeared on “49 Days,” and “Midus.”

lps tuh kan..ada la gusip sikit....actor veteran yg bwk larik minho masa baby tuh....eksen ya amat u alllllll!! padahal we all dah greet & respek dia lagik tp ala2 sumbung tak hingat nya. dgr citer gak..dia komplen kat crew yg minho dpt layanan first class padahal dia ala2 sendu gituk. we all siap belanja dia mkn lagik...sbb beli kan minho korean foods for dinner so belikan la sekali utk budak kecik & actor tuh....makan sikit jek, lps tuh tinggal kan aje.
