Tokyo fans were treated to a real family scene when Ryo Nishikido (25) invited his movie co-stars to eat his homemade pudding at an event held on Sunday, reports CinemaCafe.net and Movie Collection NEWS.
The NEWS and Kanjani8 star and fellow “ちょんまげぷりん (Chonmage Pudding)” stars Rie Tomosaka, Fuku Suzuki, and movie director Yoshihiro Nakamura went around several movie theatres in Tokyo on August 15 to thank fans for watching their film. At the first event of the day, in Shinjuku Musashino-kan, Nishikido’s homemade sweets were brought out for his co-stars to eat.
Fuku Suzuki eats Ryo Nishikido's pudding
It has been reported that child actor Suzuki opened his mouth wide as Nishikido fed him his pudding, and then yelled out a satisfying “ウマーい! (Umai! It’s good!)”.
Suzuki had had the opportunity to eat many sweets Nishikido had made during filming, but said today’s pudding had tasted the best.
Nishikido, who looked relieved after Suzuki’s positive reaction, told his co-star he would make it again for him some time.
Actress Tomosaka had said Nishikido’s pudding was “amazingly delicious!” while director Nakamura had said the pudding had “a very homemade taste”.
An embarrassed Nishikido said he had to make the pudding twice before getting it right.
“The first time I made it, I forgot to put in the vanilla essence so I had to make it all over again. The second time it only took me 15 minutes to make,” he said.

The main purpose of the event was to thank fans for seeing the movie, which has to date attracted more than 100,000 viewers.
Nishikido said it was the fans efforts that have contributed to the movie’s box office success.
“I wish I could tell you all to watch it several times, but if everyone could love the film enough to think they could watch it several times, then that would make me happy.
“You can hate Ryo Nishikido, because knowing you like Chonmage Pudding would be enough for me,” he said.
However, Nishikido suggested men should watch the movie several times. The star had picked out a fan’s “wish request” which read: “I wish for a boyfriend just like Yasubee”.
“There aren’t many men around [today] who are like Yasubee, so I think men should watch it at least five times and study how they can be more like Yasubee,” he said.
Co-star Suzuki picked out a fan’s wish request which read: “I wish that Fuku-chan and Nishikido stay freinds forever”.
The young actor described his admiration for Nishikido, revealing he had given Nishikido a hat as a present yesterday.
“I love Nishikido so I’m going to work hard so he doesn’t forget about me,” he said.
Nishikido had a kind response to his co-star: “Thanks. I’ll wear [the hat] somewhere.”

Tomohisa Yamashita's Ashita no Joe Film Teaser Posted
The official website for the live-action film adaptation of Asao Takamori and Tetsuya Chiba's classic boxing manga Ashita no Joe has begun streaming a 30-second teaser trailer . (In the linked page, select the leftmost red "NEW! 特報" button.) 24-year-old Tomohisa Yamashita (Ikebukuro West Gate Park, Kurosagi) of the idol group NEWS stars as an orphan named Joe Yabuki who rises from the Tokyo slums under the tutelage of a former boxer. Actor and boxing "otaku" Teruyuki Kagawa (20th Century Boys, Tsurugidake Tennoki, Tales from Earthsea) plays Yabuki's boxing tutor Danpei Tange, Karina plays the heroine Yōko Shiraki, and Yusuke Iseya (Casshern, Honey and Clover) plays Yabuki's rival Rikiishi Tōru. Fumihiko Sori (Ping Pong, Vexille - 2077 Isolation of Japan, To, Dragon Age) is directing the film, which will open in Japan next February.
Takamori and Chiba's original 1968-1973 manga is among the most critically acclaimed stories in Japanese popular culture, and Osamu Dezaki's television series added to the story's iconic status. It would later influence two generations of sports and shōnen manga, including Hajime no Ippo (Fighting Spirit). A crucial twist in the Ashita no Joe television anime's plot made headlines in Japan as people marked the occasion with public ceremonies.
Tai Seng licensed the first Ashita no Joe anime film for North America in 2008. A relatively new anime distributor named Animewho also released the Joe vs. Joe video anime series that same year. There was an earlier live-action film directed by the late Yasuharu Hasebe.
Yamapi lost more than eight kilos for “Ashita no Jo”
NEWS’ Tomohisa Yamashita (25) lost 8.5 kilos and his body fat percentage went down to 5% while he worked on “明日のジョー (Ashita no Jo)” it was revealed yesterday, reports Daily Sports Online and Sponichi Annex.
Character photos of the cast in the movie were released yesterday, which showed a muscular Jo Yabuki, played by Yamapi, and his rival character Tohru Rikishi, played by Yusuke Iseya (34).
Yamapi and Iseya making headlines in Japanese sports newspapers this morning
The two stars had said their training consisted of a strict diet and rigorous exercises.
Yamapi started getting in shape for his role in February, a month before filming began. His daily calorie intake was halved down to 1200 calories a day, and mainly featured chicken fillets and salads. Yamapi also did two to three hours of boxing and cardio training every day, and even had sparring sessions with former WBA world super bantamweight champion Osamu Sato (33).
By the time filming had finished in early June, Yamapi’s weight had dropped from 62 kilos to 53.5 kilos, and his body fat percentage dipped from 14% to 5%, giving him a clear six-pack. It has been reported a number of his group members from NEWS said they we were worried about his sudden weight loss.
Co-star Iseya had also endured a similar training routine, and his weight had dropped from 67 kilos to 57 kilos, and body fat percentage from 15% to 3 %.
The film’s supervising trainer had said that the two stars had gotten into better shape than Japanese boxing champions he had seen in the past.
Yamapi and Iseya had said they were serious when it came to their fighting scenes.
“I went into it with a ‘I’m not going to lose to Iseya!’ attitude. Iseya-san had this ‘give me your best shot’ look and the fact that the two of us were really punching one another, it helps you to feel the scene instead of just relying on the film’s lines,” Yamapi said.
“明日のジョー (Ashita no Jo)” will open in Japan cinemas in 2011. It is based on the critically acclaimed boxing manga of the same name by Asao Takamori and Tetsuya Chiba, created in 1968.
