Giggs: We're in charge
Ryan Giggs expects Wigan to provide a stern challenge in Sunday's Premier League title decider, but is delighted that United are masters of their own destiny.
Victory over Steve Bruce's side at the JJB Stadium will see the Reds retain the title, regardless of Chelsea's result against Bolton at Stamford Bridge.
Giggs, who will become United's joint all-time appearance maker if he features against the Latics, wants the Reds to focus solely on capping a fine season with victory.
"It's in our hands, which is all you can ask for," he told MUTV. "It's going to be a tough game. Wigan have got some decent players, they showed that when they played Chelsea and got a draw.
"No matter what happens with Chelsea, it's still in our hands and we've got to be professional and do our job."

PLANS to extend Wayne Rooney's break to get him fit for the Champions League final in Moscow could now be shelved with United facing a final-day bid for the title.
Reds boss Sir Alex Ferguson had declared he would attempt to have the England striker fit for the last Premier League match with Wigan on Sunday.
Rooney has been suffering with a hip injury, also sparking scare stories about a possible hernia complaint, since the Blackburn match 17 days ago.
He aggravated it further against Chelsea and has been forced to sit out the last two matches in the Champions League against Barcelona and Saturday's league win against West Ham.
Though Fergie had looked upon a possible comeback at Wigan, United were not prepared to rush him back and risk the possibility of a Champions League final KO.
Had the title been secured prior to the JJB date, then Rooney was likely to be left out.
But Chelsea have forced the championship race to the last 90 minutes.
United remain hot favourites and have the vital goal difference advantage but if things are not working out at Wigan, then the insurance of Rooney on the bench looks the likely scenario.
It would leave the player and the Reds sweating on a 10-day rest after that before the European showpiece.
Nemanja Vidic, however, will return at Wigan after having to sit out a mandatory 10-day FA break following his concussion suffered at Stamford Bridge.
United's open style has seen them hit 78 Premier Legaue goals and it is that stat that Owen Hargreaves believes means the Reds deserve the crown.
"It would be nice if teams like United who play attacking football and score lots of goals got their reward," he said. "It is very rare to see a team at the top of the table with such a massive goal difference." |
