Fans of “Breaking Bad” actor Aaron Paul can look forward to the opening in March of “Need for Speed,” a car-chase film in which Paul plays Tobey Marshall, a street racer who winds up in prison after a business associate frames him.
Following his release, Marshall races across the country in search of revenge, but he ends up on a road to possible redemption. Ford Motor Co. wants audiences to remember the car the lead character is driving – a specially built Mustang muscle car plays a major role in the movie.
The car is wider than standard Mustangs, and has larger wheels and more horsepower from a supercharged V8 engine. A number of other Ford vehicles have supporting parts in the film and behind the scenes, reflecting a partnership between the Dearborn, Mich., car maker and DreamWorks Studios. The two companies also developed a marketing program to promote the car and the film, Ford said.
Ford hopes “Need for Speed” will eventually be favorably compared with classic mustang movies like “Bullitt” and “Gone in 60 Seconds.”
The film, which is based on Electronic Arts’ video game series of the same name, opens March 14, 2014.
