Rookie band-group LED Apple has made official statements to clarify the plagiarism issue.
LED Apple released their title song, “Who Do You Think You Are”, as a teaser for their first album through Youtube and other online communities, but certain listeners raised their voice finding the song strikingly similar to CNBLUE’s “LOVE”.
One netizen even went as far as making a video comparing the chorus of the two songs. The video is now spreading on various blog and internet cafes.
In response, LED Apple’s managing company, Startory made an official statement on June 17th through a press release regarding the plagiarism issue.
Startory stated that because “Who Do You Think You Are” was composed by Lee Sang Ho, who also composed CNBLUE’s song, there shouldn’t be an issue at all.
The Official Statement from Startory:
“Hello, we are the managing company of group LED Apple, Startory. First of all, we’re sincerely thankful for the overwhelming attention given to group, LED Apple.
We are announcing our official position in regards to the plagiarism issue that was sparked after the release of LED Apple’s teaser on the 13th.
The composer of LED Apple’s “Who Do You Think You Are” also composed the specific song that it’s being compared to. Therefore, it’s not possible that “Who Do You Think You Are” is a plagiarized song.
The members of LED Apple and our staff went through heartache ever since the plagiarism issue arose, but we couldn’t announce the truth behind the composition of the song before we even released the official album. So here we are finally announcing our official statement after the album release.
With this incident as both a reminder and an opportunity, we will work even harder to overcome the trouble we have given to everyone and the specific band. We ask for your continued interest and love. Thank you.”
110618 'Hot band' LEDApple's grab collar dance received hot feedbacks'
[News by TV Reporter Pyo JaeMin] Group LEDApple gained attention when one member showed a surprising collar grab during their performance.
LEDApple, with it's unique concept and awesome choreography, took the stage on KBS 2TV 'Music Bank' aired last 17th of June. Viewers were attracted especially by the grabbing of collars except for Hyoseok, who is in charge of the drums.
LEDApple is a five-member band consisting of Jaehun(Vocals), Kyumin(Vocals, rap), Youngjun(Guitar), Kwangyeon(Bass) and Hyoseok(Drum).
Their debut song 'How Dare You' is about a bad man's heart who doesn't want his lover to come back anymore. The song became a hit in a popular site after 16 days of release.
LEDApple's broadcast activities were announced through the previous notice.
The reason why we are announcing this notice is that LEDApple's member, Kyumin, was involved in a traffic accident and is injured.
Although slightly, there is a bunch of practice to be digested.
We are working on it, in order to start activities immediately next week.
Due to Kyumin's injury, we are working on it to be on schedule announced through the previous bulletin.
For now Kyumin is under physical therapy, working hard in order to recover quickly.

Fans recently found out that popular ulzzang and ‘Ulzzang Generation 5‘ member Lee Chihoon was actually in the line-up for LEDApple.
As fans already know, the members of LEDApple were determined through a Japanese survival program. Every week, they would go through an evaluation and switch out the members according to the results. Under the competitive system was also Lee Chihoon.
Unfortunately, he left the group while they were all still training due to differences in musical taste. A representative of LEDApple’s agency explained, “Lee Chihoon trained as a member of LEDApple but he was unable to join the final line-up because the musical style he hoped to pursue was different from the other members. Please give your support for both LEDApple and Lee Chihoon.

The word "apple" in their name also is meant to symbolize their element of freshness and brightness. There's a double meaning on "LED" alluding to their brightness on stage similar to LED lights as well.
