Why can't we do this upgrades ourselves?
We have been independent for 50 years. Govt have spent billions if not trillions of ringgit to send people to universities with engineering degrees, masters and PhDs.
Look at Singapore, they upgrade their F-5s themselves, as well as producing some high-tech weaponaries.
MOD should start build up local military contractors rather than relying on foreign imports.

I think they are by using DEFTECH. The process of upgradings is not that hard 5 road wheels to 6 road wheels which is extending the baseline version. But how much do you think DEFTECH would have to be paid to acquire all the necessary machinery to do that. Since there's intellectual property you also have to buy the licensing for that and the systems integration. So don't blame if we have to buy it from overseas since this is very specific technologies that is hard for DEFTECH to commercialize it. |

Bro i think this is not an upgrades to the existing Adnan ACV but a new unit with bigger size (stretched) to allows the mounting of 120mm mortar... |

120mm mortar is a very heavy round. Apart from more explosive, is there any guided rounds the Amry is interested? |

The system is based on the TDA 2R2M 120 mm Mortar
Development/Description
The 120 mm 120 2R 2M recoiling rifled mortar system has been developed as a private venture for the export market by TDA (previously Thomson Brandt Armements) and can be fitted to a wide range of vehicles, tracked and wheeled, in the 10 to 15 tonnes class.
The 120 mm 120 2R 2M recoiling rifled mortar was developed from 1992 and was first revealed in 1993 with the first complete prototype being shown in 1994. As of mid-1999, volume production of this system had yet to commence.
The system has already been demonstrated in France and Saudi Arabia installed in the MOWAG Piranha (8 x 8) APC; it has also been installed in a Turkish FNSS Defense Systems Armoured Infantry Fighting Vehicle (AIFV) for trials in Turkey.
The 120 mm mortar and its associated hydraulic recoiling system is mounted on a circular turntable with ball bearing enabling it to be quickly traversed under power through 200 |

Matmin, as the mortar is 120mm, I wonder whether MAF is planning to get Merlin, guided mortar rounds. |

Hmmm good question...the 120mm Round has more flexibility.....guided mortar rounds would be a bonus...but I'm not sure of its combat effectiveness..I've not heard of anybody using it in combat ....yet.. |

Re: Merlin
I thought the Merlin was a 81mm round and that it never entered service because the Brits cancelled the program. |

Periuk_api,
the nos depends on the doctrine used
articles mentioned upgrades for KSA's ACV-300, not Malaysian's, so i'd suggest Penulis to pls read the article first, rather than reading the title alone , spent some time la, rather than straight shooting from the hip
imej dari website defence mag Poland, IIRC, sebb masa trial Rosomak ade skali
