SAMSUNG Fiber Optics (SEHF-Korea) has been pushed to expand the international optical communications market by getting the international FTTH (Fiber to the home) project.
SAMSUNG Fiber Optics announced getting a big supply contract for optical cable products and additional products with SingTel, which is the recent Singapore No. 1 communication service company that can serve in Australia, India, Indonesia, the Philippines, Thailand, Pakistan and it is one of largest telecommunication company in Asia.
The project which is progressing by SingTel is the Next Generation National Broadband Network project by Singapore Infocomm Development Authority (IDA) and the goal of this government project is the building a network system of raising the speed level up to 1 Gbps transfer rates, by 2012, which is 10 times level compare to Singapore’s current Internet speed.
In this project, SAMSUNG Fiber Optics was competed with the United States, Europe, Asia, and more than 10 companies and made orders successfully by world-renowned quality and competitive price in recognition of superior. SAMSUNG Fiber Optics has supplied total of 4,500 million dollars since 2007, the next two years a total of 4,200 million of optical cable products and additional products is expected to supply to SingTel. An official of the SingTel said “The quality of products and services from SAMSUNG Fiber Optics was very satisfied in the last two years and SAMSUNG Fiber Optics is very important strategic partner to build optical communication network.”
Jeong-geun Lee, the strategic marketing chief of SAMSUNG Fiber Optics, said “SAMSUNG Fiber Optics, Korean largest suppliers in FTTH Solution such as optic fiber/cable, track, was selected as primary suppliers to SingTel. This means SAMSUNG Fiber Optics has getting the position of hot issue in the rapidly growing communications market, including the Singapore Southeast Asia in the market to improve the status of the fiber in the world.
In addition, SAMSUNG Fiber Optics was selected as the supplier of the project, which is the Malaysia government HSBB (High Speed Broad Band: high-speed broadband network), and approximately 1,200 million dollar of optic fiber tract product is expected to supply to Telecom Malaysia.
SAMSUNG Fiber Optics expected to come up with good footing in the FTTH market by this order.
In addition, SAMSUNG Fiber Optics was selected in the Philippines, Qatar, Yemen, and telecommunications companies in each country‘s No. 1 supplier of optic cable products and approximately 1,000 million dollar of optic cable product is expected to supply.
Geun-myeon Lee, the CEO of SAMSUNG Fiber Optics, said “In the economic crisis, continuous development of new technologies and aggressive targeting at overseas FTTH market make strengthen its position in optical communications industry, which is called the dream of communication in 21st century.” |
