Along with the new Elantra, Hyundai is also introducing its new corporate slogan, “New Thinking, New Possibilities”, symbolizing Hyundai’s transformation from a provider of mere mass-market transportation, to a carmaker that offers products that delivers real value based on consumers’ desires.
Exterior The new Elantra’s exterior design is highlighted by bold, dynamic graphic elements like the Hyundai hexagonal front grille, which will form part of Hyundai’s new corporate identity, and the dramatically swept-back headlamps. The Elantra’s design follows Hyundai’s Fluidic Sculpture design philosophy, as seen on the i45 and Tucson, with trademark features such as the lowered roof line, muscular wheel arches, and long sweeping character lines. Its strong, powerful and assertive stance gives it a confident, bold and sophisticated look, and its design is one which commands immediate attention.
Interior
Inside, the look of pure refinement continues with the silver garnish that starts from the crash pad and leads to the console, projecting a wind-blown shape that exudes an overall image of fine sophistication. It’s quality of design and craftsmanship exceeds expectations, and the spacious and generously appointed cabin offers unparalleled comfort and convenience.
The new Elantra is available in three trim levels, Basic, Elite and Elite with Sunroof. Features include a start button, smart key, Electronic Stability Programme, side and curtain airbags, steering wheel audio remote, iPod-USB connectivity, rain sensor and reverse camera.
Under the Hood
The new Elantra is powered by the all-new Gamma 1.6 MPI (multi-point injection) engine with Dual Continuously Variable Valve (D-CVVT), and mated to Hyundai’s own all-new six-speed automatic transmission.
The aluminium-constructed Gamma MPI Dual CVVT engine is more powerful while delivering better fuel economy, with a quoted fuel consumption figure of 16.5km per litre on the highway. The transmission also features a Sports mode for more power.
