Acid Black Cherry revealed the 4th present! A special 0th single!
Acid Black Cherry started his "THANKS 4 YOU ABC Dream CUP 2011" in March 2011 as a gratitude to the fans who have always supported him and will support him in the future. "THANKS 4 YOU ABC Dream CUP 2011" also means a total of four big presents for the fans. In this one year, he keeps surprising the fans with wonderful gifts, started with free chaku-uta of all of his singles from Shoujo no Inori III to Yes (7 songs total), then the Free Live 2011 which mobilized 40,000 people, and the 3rd present, the free DVD-quality download and free streaming of the Free Live 2011 concert.
Now a year has passed, he finally revealed the 4th present (also the final one) for the fans! He’s currently distributing a song which he wrote before his solo debut as Acid Black Cherry, titled Kimi ga Iru Kara. Thus, he called this song as the 0th single. This song is actually very close and familiar to the Acid Black Cherry fans as he always performs this song live on every concert, LIVE and tour. Yasu said before that Kimi ga Iru Kara would never be recorded because it's a song he wrote for the fans and he wanted the fans to only hear it live, directly from him to them. But for this occasion, Yasu is making this song more special by distributing it as a present to the fans.
You can download the song (WAV, MP3 and M4A format) and the hand written lyrics here at ABC Dream CUP 2011 official website. There will be unlimited number of downloads until July 20th (23:53 JST). So please take it easy and no rushing; the site has crashed multiple of times already and is really congested at the moment.
The rain that began to fall wouldn't stop.
I had no umbrella, and the cold numbed me. But someone warmed me.
...that was you.
My voice gone, I slept as if I were dead.
I became lost like a stray child in a dream I couldn't wake from. But someone found me.
...that was you.
It's sad and painful seeing the remains of my dreams when I look back.
I want to say "thank you" to you one more time, right here, right now.
If you smile... I will sing.
If you wish... I will be by your side.
If you doubt me... I'll say it over and over.
Until my voice dies...
Can you hear me? Is this reaching you?
I am here... because you are here.
If you smile... I will sing.
If you wish... I will be by your side.
If you doubt me... I'll say it over and over.
Until my voice dies...
Can you hear me? Is this reaching you?
I am here... because you are here.
This album is made up of stories with these 3 keywords as the axle,
[Present time]
[Prophecy of the Mayan Calendar]
[Doomsday clock]
First is [Present time]---
This of course, refers to this year being 2012.
Next is [Prophecy of the Mayan Calendar]---
It's been said that “the world will end” along with the end of the calendar used by the Mayan civilization which will be ending on 2012 December 22nd.
Then lastly is [Doomsday clock]---
The [Doomsday clock] changes according to world affairs.
In January this year, that needle of the [Doomsday clock] advanced by 1 minute, the news was spread around of it being pointed at “5 more minutes” until the end of the world.
So here once again, I want to formally convey the theme of this album again.
The theme of the album this time is, “to live”.
If the whole album titled [2012] is a metaphor of “the world that’s ending”, then the tracks it contain within it, are stories of “people who live in that world”.
All respective protagonists have dire ordeals befall them, and are desperately struggling through the hardships.
Such state will, perhaps be seen as uncool.
Perhaps it’ll be seen as very pitiful.
But, none of the protagonists who show up in the lyrics gave up on living.
Precisely because they didn’t give up on living, they desperately struggle to search with all their might, for their own “meaning to live”.
Then, one day, they will find out there is light beyond that point.
This album is by no means, something that sang of “the end of the world”.
Even when given an ordeal to the extent equal to the end of the world, “don’t give up on living”.
This very thing is the biggest message of [2012].
I’m happy if you can feel it even if just a little.
The doomsday clock which pointed to the remaining 5 minutes.
2+0+1+2 = 5.
I want to change this “5” into a “5” of hope, so there are 5 prayers included within the stories.
3 prayers of the young girl,
1 prayer of an angel
Prayers around the world as 1
I wish that the thoughts, and prayers, of all those people will become one someday.
It’s tough to live.
“But hey…by being alive, the future will surely change”
This has been the unchanging belief that Acid Black Cherry continues to sing of since the very beginning. Things that can only be done now.
Things that can’t be done unless it’s now.
Things that can be done because you’re living the present.
The meaning of the title [2012], lies there.
Someday, in the far off future when the current “year of 2012” will become the past, when you listen to [2012] again, I think it’d be good if there will be a scene where you will be recounting “2012 was such a year, huh” with a smile. After all, the world continued on without ending at that time, because everyone living with a smile in that future, is the very evidence [of that].
An album filled with such message from yasu.
We wholeheartedly want this [2012] to reach everyone.
Let me say thank all of you guys. I have the 13 years career as an artist and finally I could get #1 on the Oricon weekly album sales chart.
Personally I don't usually get so serious about ranking stuff, but I am so glad to see you guys and my staff are becoming happy and excited.
Also, I got lots of messages from Japan and oversea. To be honest, I was so surprised with the tons of messages from oversea I got.
I don't think I could get this #1 but I am sure you guys and my staff could get me this #1 with lots of support. Somehow I feel a bit mixed emotion to get #1 like this, however, here I should be simply happy with this #1.
This is my theory, the value of album is not the number of sales, but the number of playing by people. I will keep doing my best to make more music that many people play and listen to over and over again.
Acid Black Cherry's Yes as a Bee TV drama themesong
Acid Black Cherry's popular song, Yes is chosen as the themesong for BeeTV (a broadcast service for cell phones a.k.a TV for cell phones) short drama, Re:dream which stars Sometani Shota (the first Japanese actor to win the MARCELLO MASTROIANNI AWARD for the movie, Himizu, at the 68th Venice International Festival) and Kurashina Kana.
This drama is also inspired by the song, Yes itself.
Re:dream will be directed by Fukagawa Yoshihiro, who’s also been in charge of Byakuyakou and Kamisama no Karute.
Director Fukugawa commented, "I felt the theme and power in this song, and my worldview for video expanded. I materialized that and made a drama inspired by the song. I would be happy if those who watch it will like it."
The drama is set in a mysterious world where you can’t tell the difference between dreams and reality. Sometani expressed, "It’s a strange fantasy. I had so much fun playing my role, so please enjoy it."
Re:dream will be distributed through BeeTV starting April 18th. It will then be gradually released through other video distributing sites.

Acid Black Cherry reveals the details on his new project
Previously, Acid Black Cherry (ABC) announced that he would start a new project called “Shangri-la” this summer, and the details on the new project have finally been revealed.
According to the special website for “Shangri-la”, it is a project to make people who love yasu’s music smile as much as possible. The project includes (1) releasing new songs (2) dividing the whole country into 5 blocks, and hold a live tour throughout Japan (3) holding events in each area to communicate with the fans. ABC will perform these tasks in parallel.
This project comes from yasu’ thought process that, “If I can make you smile with my songs, I want to sing…in your town.” In recent years, it is getting harder and harder to get a ticket for ABC’s live concerts. In order to better the situation, it would be the easiest to hold live concerts in bigger venues, but it would differ from yasu’ intention. Also, if he holds a live tour for a long period of time, he would not be able to release anything new. According to yasu, he has always been having a dilemma, and in order to break through the dilemma, the project was launched.
Though details including the schedule have not been revealed yet, it’s likely to be the longest and biggest-scaled project in ABC’s history. Reportedly, the further details will gradually be announced on the project’s special site.
Additionally, ABC will be releasing his third cover album “Recreation 3” on March 6.
As the first part of his project ‘Shangri-la‘, Acid Black Cherry has announced that he will be holding a tour in Hokkaido and Tohoku starting August 13th.
‘Shangri-la’ is a special project to bring a smile upon those who love yasu’s music. The project will include (1) releasing new songs (2) dividing the whole country into 5 blocks, and hold a live tour throughout Japan (3) holding events in each area to communicate with the fans.
