Malaysian singer Nicholas Teo is back from Taiwan to promote his latest album, Prince. Nicholas Teo, the mild mannered 26 year old singer from Sarawak is more than the good looking boy next door. With his killer smile and down-to-earth charisma, here is what he has to say about his life, career and plans for the future ...
Q: Five years after winning Astro Talent Quest, how has your life changed?
A: Wow...five years..so fast!!! Since I became a new artiste till today, everything is like a dream come true. I have learn many things about music industry and met many people especially my colleagues and fans. Best of all, I feel very appreciative and happy being to able to make my singing hobby a career.
Q: Now that you are a big star, do your family and friends treat you differently?
A: No..My old friends still treat me like the "old Nick". Some of them whom I have known for more than ten years don't even listen to my music or talk about my career. When I go back to Kuching, I just relax and be my old self around my buddies. My family is very supportive of my career and doesn't give me any pressure. My Mum keeps telling me if I feel tired or when the going gets tough, I can just come home anytime. (Thanks, Mum)
Q: Being a Malaysian, why do you choose to develop your celebrity career in Taiwan?
A: Starting my singing career in Malaysia for my first two years was very tough because of the music environment in Malaysia. People tend to judge me a lot on my Mandarin pronunciation. In Taiwan, it is different because Malaysian artistes receive very good response from them. This is largely because Malaysian singers like Fish Leong, Penny Tai, Guang Liang(Michael Wong) and Malaysian newbie artistes are very versatile , well versed in music, song writing and singing. So, it is a bit easier for me to build up my singing career in Taiwan. Though the media is not very kind to new artistes, I am very lucky to have gone this far with a lot of hard work and passion.
Q: You have recently acted in a very popular Taiwan drama series called "Smiling Pasta". How do you find acting versus singing?
A: Singing and acting are two very different things. Working in "Smiling Pasta" really gave me a great sense of achievement. I felt so blessed to be the first Malaysian selected to play a big role in the drama. That was why I took the opportunity seriously and did the best I could. For my first acting debut , I spent 6 months in Taiwan just focusing on my role. During this period of time, I put aside all my music showcase and sports commercial to concentrate on the drama. Having seen the favorable ratings from the drama, it was certainly worthwhile sacrifice. In fact, Some of my fans only knew me from my role in "Smiling Pasta".
Q: Any new dramas that we can look forward to?
A: Not for the time being ,as my current goal is to focus on promoting my third newly released "rince" all over Asia. Maybe I do another drama at the end of the year. In fact, I am currently looking over some scripts which has been offered to me. (Nick's fans!!! More reason to keep your eyes glued to the TV...)
Q: Have you always wanted to be a singer or did you have other dreams when you were younger?
A: When I was a kid, I have always wanted to sing but I realized that it was very tough to be a successful singer in Malaysia during my high school years. No one can guarantee that you are going to become famous even if you can sing very well or look handsome. That was why I only took singing as a hobby. Every time I went on stage, I just enjoyed performing.
Q: Did you expect yourself to come this far?
A: I never did expect too much but whatever happened in my life so far is definitely more than my expectations. Guess I have been really lucky so far...
Q: What keeps you motivated?
A: Being Happy!
Q: Will there be any upcoming concerts for all your die-hard fans to enjoy your live music?
A: We are currently planning a very big concert in Malaysia but still looking for the perfect location. Since I am from Malaysia, I will kickstart my biggest concert in Malaysia, followed by China and Taiwan. (Such patriotism.....)

FAN ACCOUNT adikkeluangman @ MAA 2008 XPAX LIVE SCREENING PARTY & MTV Asia Award n Post Party 080802
This is combination of my story plus with my friends that in the Arena of Stars and also Post party.
Actually tak sangka pun FT akan datang event ni. Well, I have invitation to go to the party at Genting International Showroom. Went there with my friends. But since we arrived early about 5.30pm. We decided to meet other friends at Genting Hotel. In front of the hotel, some singers already left for Arena of Stars. There were barrier between the hotel lobby/car and also for fans standing. Not many singers left since all big names had left earlier. I saw few artists like Project E.A.R, Indonesian n several more but could not recognize it. My friends know how much I liked FT although their are not into Malaysian artist since their are Chinese. I asked whether FT had been to AoS or not but they not sure. so after chatted a bit, my back behind the lobby. my friend nudged me and said that FT was here heading out to the car. Well, not sure what to do. I just shouted 'Faizal Tahir good luck for tonight'. I bet that he sure heard it clearly. Then, continue spazz with my friends when they said that FT sure heard/saw me. Feels so excited.  He wear black suits.
After that I went to the showroom to watch MAA. It was LIVE same time. everytime FT or Malaysian nominees been mention. I will cheered for both. Even MC for the night have rcognized me as FT fan. Soon after the award end. MC announced that FT will made performances here after that. So excited. My friends stay just for sake of me. coz the party are getting started and the atmosphere was clubbing type. My friends not familiar with that situation. Since they all bertudung n stuff. ha ha ha... First Hujan made perf n then FT appeared. He sangs 'Batu & Golek' before that he asked the crowd about the award and does everyone want to see him perform or rather excited to see Super Junior. LOL. THEN he sang Its My Life, he really walked into the crowd. Then, next song 'Sekadar Ingin Bercinta' the funny thing was he said before that does everyone know dangdut song. helo FT sing dangdut song. like WTH. after the music cue in it really good. got people dancing n he moved into crowd again. Got 2 or 1 more songs but i forgot. but it not his songs. If i remember i will edit or add onn. then he end the show. got ppl said encoore or somthing like that n he showed back to sing last song.
Pictures n videos are taken but i don't review it yet. maybe i will upload some. based on the picx quality ok. my friend that with me said that she saw FT on every weekend at her studyplace/saloon. coz he will do his hair there b4 GangStarz show. She reveal the secret that FT hair is chemical treated as in rebonding. No wonder the hair looks so beautiful and glowing... LOL.
After that, we meet other friends that watch the show from Arena of Stars. I asked about FT. They said that he sits beside Nicholas Teo. on TV you can only saw NT and they sit behind Super Junior. Both of them chatted a bit n stuff. Then we headed back to our hotel rooms to rest. After awhile, we got friend that get into Post Party. and also my friends want to see other singers too. So we went out again n went to Genting Hotel whereby the party was held. It was security tight n we just hanging around the lobby. My friend that went in showed my some pics. OMG.... she got to take picture with FT. just to make me jealous.. ok i don't mind. so i asked her about FT. He was the earlier to leave the scene. I guess he just doing his oblligation to go n showed his face and went back to his room.
Both events have alcohol served n smoking n stuff. I typed so long... guess it all here.
