opis aku ada 2 switch.1 switch utk connect internet n 1 lg switch utk connect ke server.thas mean server tu x connect ke internet la,just intranet.
server guna os windows xp.n then every pc akan connect ke server malui switch dlink 24 port.probnya ialah ada client yg guna windows vista x dpt connect ke server.puas aku godek2 tp x jalan2 jgk.so my question is how to resolve this problem?tlng bg solution selain drp yg telah aku listkan ni yerk.
1. mensetkan semua client kepada 1 workgroup yg sama
2. disablekan ipv6 bg vista
3. offkan segala firewall n software yg berkaitan dgn firewall pd client
4. tukar cable sbb cable tu mmg ok x de prob
ok guys jasa baik kalian yg menjawab aku hargai..

1st of all, you don't need to disable ipv6; but then you won't need ipv6 either if you just using the PC for "normal" activities. Dis-regard this, saja je nak cakap....
Anyway, more info pls? The server acts as what? Just a file server je, or you running any DHCP services on it, or maybe one of the switch is the one actually a router? You can just open up Network in Control Panel & see if a link got a red "X" on it. You have to give more info to troubleshoot.
If others can connect, then it's just a matter of opening up properties for TCP/IP in Network protocol for ipv4 & check if it's having a correct IP address. Sometimes, without a permanent DHCP server can create havoc as newer version of windows will challenge the rest of the PCs for providing services...
Can you ping other PCs? Open up a command prompt & type in "ping 192.168.0.x" The numbers being one of the IP of a PC in your workgroup. BTW, while at it why don't you type in "ipconfig /all" This will list details of connections. Did you try repairing your connection?
Oh yea... jgn turn off the firewall for something like this. Windows firewall might be crappy, but at least it helps..... Cuz, you might think that the server is not connected to the internet, but if all are in the same network, all are still linked & the server is still open to the internet.
