Roberto Carlos scoops Golden Foot 2008 Award
The Brazilian Roberto Carlos, is the winner of the 2008 Golden Foot award, the international career award dedicated to the greatest champions of world football.
The fans of the left back, currently plying his trade at Fenerbahce, backed their favourite heavily giving him a total of 38,384 votes, compared with 18,150 votes for Juventus goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon and 12,742 votes for AS Roma captain Francesco Totti.
The total votes collected on the website www.goldenfoot.com were 105,589, coming from all over the world. Roberto Carlos follows on from last year’s winner Alessandro Del Piero. Roberto Carlos who, in a stellar career, was a World Cup winner with Brazil in 2002 and winner of 3 Champions League titles, 2 Intercontinental cups and 4 Spanish Liga titles with Real Madrid, received the Golden Foot Award from HSH the Prince Albert of Monaco, who gave his High Patronage to the event.
In addition to the main award, the contributions of Zinedine Zidane, Luis Suarez, Igor Belanov and Aldair were also recognised as they were inducted as Golden Foot Legends of the Game.
Roberto Carlos' footprints are moulded into the Champions Promenade in Monaco.

Aragonés And Guïza On The Way Out Of Fener
Luis Aragonés could be sacked at the weekend if Fenerbahçe lose their next league and Dani Guïza could be heading out of the club after a disastrous start to the season.
The Turkish giants have lost four out of their first seven games in the Turkcell Super Lig in a campaign that promised so much after the summer changes at the club.
A Champions League hammering at home by Arsenal saw the pressure increase on Aragonés and the Fener board are now considering whether to take action or allow him more time.
Club president, Aziz Yildirim, has been criticised by fans for the choices he has made and he is well aware of the financial implications of having to sack the Spanish trainer.
While Aragonés may have only days left in his job, Guïza may be cashed in while his stock is still high and has already been linked with a lucrative move to Manchester City.
Whether that rumour is true or not, it is indicative of the mood at Fener where the club is keen to start again and bring in new players in the winter transfer window.
Fener had aspirations to go beyond the Champions League group stages and the economic blow that failing to do that will have has already strained relations between the board and the playing squad.
Aragonés is at the centre of the problem as he was expected to take over after guiding Spain to the European Championships and reproduce the same flowing football at club level and that has not happeneed.
