Never underestimate others bro...try first...I personally was an ex-volunteer at NCCC and last time I checked NCCC able to process complaints efficiently.
Yesterday I visited the NCCC centre at Sungei Way...and as expected last month complaints has already been processed and they're opening about 100 new files for newly arrived complaints.
I suggest if your friend wants to expediate this matter, he or she need to lodge a complaint from the 'e-aduan' website because sometimes when people wish to pursue the old method (snail mail etc) they didn't wrote the complaint letter with precise information and that will only slowing down the processing of the complaint.
Go and lodge your complaint online now. Go to my thread in this board about National Consumer Complaint Centre. |

Basically, after receiving your friend's complaint, NCCC will forward a letter to show cause or give explaination to that company. NCCC will also C.C. the letter to the Ministry of Trade and Consumer Affairs (surely, that company will get a bit nervous when they realised that the complaint letter has been forwarded to the minister..) and also to the complainant as a sign that an action has been taken.
After seven (7) days and if that company didn't reply to NCCC and the ministry, NCCC will forward the case to Consumer Tribunal at Shah Alam. If the company wish to play the game the hard way and refused to appear in the tribunal, the tribunal will imposed sanction on that company and there's a possibility that the company's license will be cancel by the ministry.
But to be frank, usually the company will call the complainant and beg for settlement outside the Tribunal and when the complainant are fully satisfy, he or she will withdrew the complaint from NCCC and NCCC will close the file. That what I saw during my volunteer work at NCCC.
The issue here is not how much is your damages but more on are you been cheated or not? If you do...this is a proper way...
Ask your friend to give a shot..who knows the HP company will call your friend and offer a better HP with fair price...

Woohooo...I admit some lawyers do charged a large sum of money just to hear their opinion...I guess the lawyer you spoke to must be from a large law firm, right?
To tell the truth, I use to work in a law firm which specialize in Banking and Debt Collection. The smallest amount I've encountered while I work there was around RM2,000 (Credit Card facilities) that's all. In addition, my firm acting on behalf of the bank, but we never act on behalf of individuals.
Thus, I must say that I'm not experienced enough to give profesional advice to you....
However, may I ask how long does that person owes the money? If it's more than 6 years and no legal action has been taken, the cause of action will be barred since the limitation period has lapsed. |

Yes...I admit some of them are like that..but what can we say, they only want to earn a living....
Hehehe..I've heard a more realistic story compare to that movie. It's about our Malaysian lawyer who loves to help the poor and waived his profesional fees until the day he died, he don't even have enough money for funeral (purchase kain kapan) ya know...sad uh? |

That's why we cannot judge people within a certain profession as all the same. There a good lawyers out there willing to sacrifice their time and lifestyle just to help others whereas there are also bad doctors out there who sells cough syrup to drug addicts. |

Penah baca buku Rich Dad tulisan Robert T. Kiyosaki tak?
Tindakan undang2 takleh amik terhadap infringement sebab die takde ownership towards that invention.
