kalau banyak dengar orang cakap english, be it in real life, on tv or radio... kita akan tahu yg sesuatu ayat tu punye structure tak betul by just listening to it... bunyi cam tak kena je...

pada aku laa... dulu kecik² aku selalu tgk katun english.. campur plak ilmu yg belajar kat sekolah, jadi macam naturally boleh rasa yg ayat tu ada yg tak kena (sebelom nak tulis or sebut)...

apa pun, kena banyak expose tu english medium and practice la.... and jgn rasa kecik hati kalau waktu kau speaking tu, kawan yg lebih fasih tegur... belajar dari situ jugak...

Cheers!

Change "dont take THINGS for granted"  and you can have...

"Don't take your wife for granted. Listen to her and give her the love and encouragement that she needs"

"Don't take your children for granted. They will soon grow and leave their nests."

Nowadays, I always buy the Star newspaper to help me improve my English. I'll be speaking to myself on the way to work for no apparent reason. Is my sentence correct?

hi guys..just wanna share my experience learning english..i actually i was brought up in an english spoken family..when i was 5, my dad sent me to an english medium kindergarden..2 years later, we moved to USA as my dad was pursuing his Phd there.  Ingat dah sampai sane, power la but to my surprise, I still have a lot to learn..one of the obvious reasons is the American English is slightly different from the Brit English which we practise here in Malaysia..Pape pun this is what I did..i tgk videon kartun2 disney yang my dad bought for me berulang2 kali..then, i tried to apply some of the dialogs that i memorised in my daily converstions with my schoolmates..sounds lame but it worked like a charm..kat umah, mmg no problem ar coz we didnt use malay at all(btw, this is not adviseable coz blk m'sia aku tak tau ckp melayu).then cara diorg ajar english kat skolah pun best. Every day, cikgu akan tulis 2 ayat kat blackboard yang grammarnye ntah ape2..then we have to correct it. Pastu kitorg ade show n tell, lebih kurang cam public speaking ar..then creative writing for us to express our ideas..i really believe these methods are really effective..especially kalau diajar kat budak2 kecik..time tu la senang dpt..
then time balik m'sia, ok je..i found my english still improving eventho dah tak dok us..i attended a residential school and kat c2 cikgu2 yang ajar english pun best..then bende tak best terjadi, after abis spm, i masuk ipta. cuba bayangkan..dlm 4 thn pengajian aku kat sane, ade satu je english course yg aku kena amik..actually ade 3 english courses tp the other two aku tak yah amik coz got A1 for my SPM..Aku rase kena ade byk lg course english la...do they actually think they could prepare our graduates into the working world with only 3 english courses?mmg la ade course lain yang diajar dlm english..but writing is not as effective as speaking in the language itself.pastu lak, dah jauh ngan parents, mmg takde org nak communicate in English..if ckp ngan kwn2, kang diorg ckp aku menunjuk lak..as a result from that, i dont think my english has improved at all sepanjang aku kat uni..aku takdela ckp hancur terus engliah aku..but it could have gotten better..my dad pun ckp, i was much more confident using the language while I was still in school..
Skang ni dah grad, i work at a multi national company..Alhamdulillah, my English is improving n aky rase takde la statik cam kat uni dulu..mane tak nye..every day gune..so moral of the story, never stop learning..just bcoz dah terror, dont ever feel that u need to stop practising the language..believe me, ur English CAN get rusty..I speak from experience..hehe..n nanti kalau korang ader anak, ajar la dari kecik..nanti takdela susah sgt nak explain hukum-hakam grammar yg memeningkan..

as gilermakeup pointed out -- i do also have a thread
in the school problems board to learn ESL  and in addition
a thread called POSTING IN ENGLISH ONLY -

however -  this thread has been here for long time so,
let's keep it that way --

both boards are under my supervision as well
(in this board - lost angel can also moderate your post) -

i appreciate all the post --
and hopefully we shall help each other in improving
our skills in english language -

i am no English teacher but i'll share of things that i understand...
in easier words, it means...

i was married - shows Past Tense, thus showing u have done the thing call marry

i am married - shows Present Tense, thus showing u are now in the condition of marry

any mistakes, please correct me...
