The title refers to a succession of (at the moment) three Cantonese television series started in 1998 produced by Asia Television Ltd. in Hong Kong. The programme features as the main characters a freedom fighter-turned-vampire in WWII against Japan, his adopted son/brother, three incarnations of a Japanese Lieutenant, all of whom were bitten by the vampire king Cheung Sun in 1938 (apart from the third incarnation), and priestess from the family of Ma (which cooperated with the Taoist Mao family for generations to rid the world of evil supernaturals, the last blood-related descendant being Mao Xiaofang, played Lam Ching-Ying in previous vampire-busting TV series).
STORY LINE:
Fong Kwok Wah(Eric Wan) is fighting against the Japanese general Yut Fu (Kenneth Chan). During the battle, a vampire (Vampire King) comes out and bites them both, turning them into vampires. Fook Sang, a kid, is also bitten by the Vampire King. At the time, the Ma Family ghostcatcher, Ma Dan Na (Joey Meng), was trying to kill the Vampire King. Now that Kwok Wah is a vampire, he cannot marry his lover Sau.
Sixty years later, Wah changes his name to Tin Yau. He is now a cop. While working on a case, he meets the Ma Family ghostcatcher Siu Ling (played by Joey Meng) and her best friend Zhen Zhen (Kristy Yang). Zhen Zhen falls in love with Tin Yau. Tin Yau didn't reveal his vampire identity yet but Siu Ling knows that he's a vampire. Siu Ling doesn't want Zhen Zhen to be frightened so she kept Tin Yau's identity a secret. Time flows by and Yut Fu wants to challenge Tin Yau again. Siu Ling finds that she herself is in love with Tin Yau but she can't shed a tear for him. If she does, all her powers will disappear. At the end, Yut Fu finds that Zhen Zhen looks like his wife and starts to like her. Yut Fu and Tin Yau have a big battle. All the people die. At the end, Tin Yau finally tells Siu Ling something: He loves her.

My Date With A Vampire II
Cast: Eric Wan, Joey Meng, Simon Yam, Kenneth Chan, Kristy Yang, Angie Cheung, Pinky Cheung, Joey Leung
Eric Wan's role, Fong Kwok Wah, is still a cop and is dating Kristy. The series began with Eric chasing some robbers. Kristy went to meet him and became the hostage, but Eric rescued her in time. Joey, on the other hand, took a part time job as a model since she needs to pay off all the debts on her credit cards. It turns out that all the models were vampires and they were looking for a gem called Angel抯 Tear. Joey and her student, Chung, started to duel with the 7 models. Later, they find out that they were from England so they went to England and they started to learn about a vampire and his past. In this subplot we see that Tin Yau (played by Eric) was killed by the vampire. Fong Kwok Wah saw that his grandson died, and then he assumed Tin Yau抯 identity since he didn抰 want Tin Yau抯 friends to be sad. They solved the case, returned back to HK, but noticed that Tin Yau had changed.

MY DATE WITH A VAMPIRE III
After 4 years of waiting, the second sequel to My Date with a
Vampire was finally released!
Cast:
Eric wan: Kuang Tien You/ Qien Dou
Joey Meng: Ma Xiao Ling
Alice Chan: Yaw Chee Sheng Mu
Mark Cheng: Ren Wang Fu Xee
Kenneth Chen: Wan Yen Bu Bau
Pinky Cheung: Wan Yen Wu Lei
Berg Ng: X
Teresa Mok: Mao You
Ricky Chan: Ma Xiao Hu
Benny Chan: Hu You Chiow/ Ming Yun
Liu Yi Da: Ma Ta Long
Kylie Kwok: Kuang Tien Ya
Remus Kam: Liu Xing/ Nick
The story was good although it seemed impossible at first to be able to connect it with the previous two series - but it turned out fine. Xiao Ling and Tien You were to go back to earth in 2004 to save the world from being destroyed from a war caused by a couple who are now ex-lovers! Tien You was poisoned, therefore Xiao Ling had to go back to the Song Dynasty to get Tien You's ancestor to replace him...
The Plot:
The plot was ok but I felt that it was sort of a repetition of part two where Nu Wa wanted to destroy the world. The only difference is that Nu Wa wanted to destroy the world in her disappointment over how people were bad while in part 3, Yaw Chee Sheng Mu and Ren Wang will fight, causing an enormous disaster! Part two was better for me because it seemed more original! The thing I like about Cham Sap San is that he managed to make a past, present, and future goal in the stories! Part one, they were trying to change the past, part two, the future, and part three, the present! |
