Jim carrey's daughter auditioning for American Idol 11

When your dad is a famous celebrity you don’t really need to go on auditions. But that was not the case for Jane Carrey, daughter of funnyman Jim Carrey. She could have used her dad’s influence to kick start her singing career but instead she chose to work for her spot in Hollywood on the latest season of American Idol.

“The last name definitely helps and hurts,” Jane reportedly revealed on why she didn’t audition anonymously. “I feel like there's kind of like this pressure to be good, because if I make it somewhere, people will say, ‘Oh, you only got there because of this.’ Sometimes that actually makes me worse, because I'm too nervous.”

Singing Let’s Give Them Something To Talk About, Jane who was relaxed and confident during the auditions, wowed the judges with her strong voice and obvious star potential.

What was really cute during the clip from the show was when Jane said, “My dad is Jim Carrey,” judge Jennifer Lopez gushed that she remembered Jane as a baby when dad Jim used to bring her to the set of TV show In Living Color where J.Lo started her career. “I remember you when you were little, do you remember me? I was one of the Fly Girls,” J.Lo said.
