Many Alphard and Vellfire owners ask the same question:
“Why do I hear a clicking or knocking sound from the brakes at low speed?”
✅ The real reason (very common):
The original factory brake caliper design does NOT include a damping ring.
After long-term use, the caliper pin clearance increases, especially during:
Low-speed braking
Driving on uneven or bumpy roads
This causes a light metal-to-metal tapping sound, which is very common and not a defect.
Our Improved Solution
We use an upgraded caliper pin with an added damping ring, which helps to:
Reduce excessive clearance
Stabilise caliper movement
Improve braking quietness and consistency
Result: Less noise, better brake feel, and more stable long-term performance.
Long-Term Cost Advantage
With this setup:
The main pin does not need repeated replacement
In the future, only the damping ring needs to be renewed
Lower maintenance cost over time
Not sure if your noise is from the caliper pin?
If your Alphard or Vellfire has a similar clicking sound,
send us the keyword “Brake Noise” and we’ll help you identify the cause.
