PETALING JAYA – Kaki tipu atau scammer akan menggunakan pelbagai cara untuk mendapatkan wang termasuk mereka cerita kononnya sedang merempat dan tidak mempunyai duit untuk membeli makanan atau susu anak.
Presiden Persatuan Pengguna Subang dan Shah Alam, Datuk Dr. Jacob George berkata, modus operandi itu biasa digunakan berdasarkan pengalamannya mengendalikan kes penipuan melibatkan scammer.

“Ada juga scammer menghubungi saya mendakwa keluarganya ada masalah. Mereka dicari ah long atau bayi mahu melakukan pembedahan pemindahan hati di luar negara serta pelbagai lagi kisah sedih.
“Saya tanya mengapa perlu buat pembedahan di luar negara sedangkan kita ada pakar sebelum semua penipuannya terbongkar. Ada juga kata ibu atau isteri ada masalah sehinggakan mangsa ini bersimpati dengan cerita tersebut dan memberikan wang,” katanya.
Menurut Jacob, scammer tidak pernah memberikan butiran kes kerana bimbang ada orang membuat semakan dengan hospital dan sebagainya.
Tambahnya, media sosial merupakan lubuk bagi scammer untuk menipu orang ramai dengan pelbagai kisah dongeng dan memainkan sentimental dan emosi bagi menarik minat mangsa untuk memberikan derma.
