Bas Ke Mekah Langgar Jambatan, Terbalik Dan Terbakar- 20 Jemaah Umrah Meninggal Dunia, 24 Cedera

RIYADH – Sebuah bas membawa jemaah umrah menuju ke kota suci Mekah terbakar selepas berlanggar di atas sebuah jambatan.
Kemalangan tersebut mengorbankan 20 orang dan mencederakan lebih 24 mangsa lain, lapor media kerajaan Arab Saudi.
Kemalangan di wilayah Asir, selatan Arab Saudi itu membayangkan cabaran berterusan yang dihadapi untuk mengangkut jemaah dengan selamat ke Mekah dan Madinah iaitu dua kota paling suci dalam agama Islam.
Nahas berlaku pada minggu pertama bulan Ramadan, masa sibuk untuk ziarah umrah dan hanya beberapa bulan sebelum berjuta-juta umat Islam menunaikan ibadah haji.

“Menurut maklumat awal yang kami terima, jumlah kematian dalam kemalangan ini mencecah 20 orang, manakala angka kecederaan kira-kira 29 orang,” lapor media kerajaan, Al-Ekhbariya.
Menurutnya, mangsa kemalangan memiliki ‘kewarganegaraan berbeza’ tanpa menyebut kerakyatan mereka atau memberikan pecahan.
Akhbar Okaz melaporkan bahawa kemalangan itu berpunca daripada masalah brek.
Bas itu ‘kemudian melanggar jambatan, terbalik dan terbakar’, katanya.
Rakaman Al-Ekhbariya menunjukkan seorang wartawan berdiri di hadapan apa yang kelihatan seperti rangka bas yang hangus.
Mengangkut jemaah di sekitar tempat suci di Arab Saudi adalah tugas yang berbahaya, terutamanya semasa musim haji apabila jalan raya menjadi huru-hara dengan kehadiran begitu banyak bas, menyebabkan kesesakan lalu lintas yang tidak berkesudahan.
Pada Oktober 2019, kira-kira 35 warga asing terbunuh dan empat lagi cedera apabila sebuah bas bertembung dengan sebuah lagi kenderaan berat berhampiran Madinah. –CARI
