Konsumerisme, budaya selebriti, dan ’trivialization of culture’



Hidupyang terfokus kepada konsumerism dan budaya ’consumerist’ yangmemandang semua perkara sebagai ’barangan’, dengan kesannya yang sangatparah kepada hidup masyarakat dan budaya. Ini kerana budaya inimenyebabkan manusia membeli dan mengguna barangan bukan keranapentingnya benda itu, tetapi kerana hendak menunjuk-nunjuk; alangkahmalahnya budaya menunjuk-nunjukkan ini. Selain daripada kesannya kepadaekonomi dan hidup sosial (dengan korupsi yang berikutnya)
iamerosakkan hidup manusia dan membahayakan negera.


Dan berkaitan dengan ini juga ialah budaya hiburan yangkelihatan berlebihan yang merupakan ’trivialiation of culture’ ataupun
memanisfasikanbudaya secara penonjolan perkara-perkara yang ’trivial’ denganmelupakan perkara-perkara yang besar-besar yang memberi kesedarankepada manusia dalam hidup budaya yang sebenarnya. Kita memerlukankeseimbangan
dalam hidup supaya budaya tidak menurunkepada paras yang semakin lama semakin rendah, sebab trend inimembahayakan kita sendiri.

consumerism to me is a term they use for succumbing to capitalisation. big brands are deemed more stablised, worth more in the share market etc..but wat happened in just recent economic downturn proved otherwise.

manifestation of a trend is another method of escapism coined by people wished to emerge as 'different' but what really they are doing is more segragation of society or rather conflicting likings.

cant help thinking that i am actually just rambling from the tip of my finger....

IMHO, today consumerism,products and things we refer to as fashion are actually diversion. We are pursued and convinced that all those products are essentials to our life thus the concept of needs and wants have turned upside down. one just have to look into its own wardrobe and realise that not all of it will be used. This is the 'new consumerism.'
