Prelude

Adam just received a new job offer, working in a pretigious company in KL. He accepted, and was asked to go for a managerial training in Sydney for 3 weeks. Two people were selected, him and his colleague Darren who had gone to school and worked in melbourne. It was a cold winter morning. Adam and Darren were walking from their hotel to the Pricewaterhouse headquarters, where the training is held, when Adam saw Ellis - and stopped cold on his track. He looked intently at the face that he had missed, and longed for. This can't be her, he muttered to himself. Darren, who was saying something to him, turned his head to see whatever that had diverted his friend's attention. Coming out from the Coffee Bean was a cute looking girl carrying her cup of fresh coffee while busy adjusting her laptop bag. When she looked up, and saw both of them, her face turned white, as if she was seeing a ghost.

Without wasting any second, Adam went to her. She looked undecided, as if she was debating to herself whether to run or stay. But it was too late, Adam was already in front of her.
'hi..' Darren heard Adam say.
'hi back' She said, still looking uneasy.
'getting coffee?' Adam who initially was moving towards her in such enthusiasm had suddenly lost for words seeing her obvious discomfort.
'hmm' she said in haste,  and quickly added 'Sorry.. I have to go.. I'm already late for my train' With that, she walked off hurriedly and did not even looked back.

He could not concentrate on the training course. At first he was happy that he found her again, but now, he is not sure.  It has been six months, and Ellis still looked the same, a bit thinner than before, but she still has her curves where it matters. She had let her straight hair loose, and in the shiny sydney sun, it was gleaming beautifully. The pain in her eyes that was there when he last saw her had gone, and replaced with radiance that made her look gorgeously glowing.  A feeling of sadness and hurt tugged his heart, she looked so happy now, happy without him. She probably now has a boyfriend that adores her the way he adores her before. She is probably with that guy came to visit her. He could not help but felt this raging jealousy eating him at the thought of her smile is for someone else now, but at the same he felt deep regret that he had let her go. When he was talking to her this morning, she was just talking to him cordially. No warmth, no affections, not even hatred that he is expecting - but just plain cordial greeting. Darren had asked Adam who she was, and remarked that he looked so nervous around her. When Adam told him who she was, Darren had instinctively let out a slow whistle, and asked 'what happened'
