Rumorsof a Fuji TV drama series titled "Code Blue" were confirmed onThursday. The show has assembled a cast packed with young stars andestablished veterans, led by NEWS member Tomohisa Yamashi'ta.

Thedrama's full title is "Code Blue: Doctor Heli Kinkyu Kyumei." Theconcept is based on Japan's proposal for an emergency medical serviceusing helicopters to quickly reach those in need. A special bill waspassed in June 2007 that should foster widespread adoption of thesystem.

Yamashi'ta stars as a young doctor-in-training, workingunder the guidance of an experienced "flight doctor" (ToshiroYanagiba). Some scenes will be filmed with a real helicopter, adding tothe show's tension.

The supporting cast includes Yui Aragaki,Erika Toda, Manami Higa, Yosuke Asari, Kiyoshi Kodama, Ryo, TettaSugimoto, Susumu Terajima, and Masanobu Katsumura.

Aizawa Kousaku(Yama#a Tomohisa)
Afterexperiencing 2 years in an ER at a provincial hospital, Aizawatransfers to Syohoku ER Center to be a flight doctor. He has a largefund medical knowledge and is calm and composed at all times. Althoughhe is young, he has great confidence towards his abilities. In additionto day duty, Aizawa stays overnights at the ER and waits for thearrival of seriously ill patients. He is obsessed to improve hismedical skills, which often causes some friction with others. Thisobsession makes others misunderstand his personality, whose characterisinfluenced by his tragic background.

Shiraishi Megumi(Aragaki Yui)
Shiraishi抯characteris always passive and defensive and does not like to have conflictswith others. Her fear of failure prevents people from seeingher awkwardside, and she is often timid in severe situations. However,associatingwith the other professionals greatly influences her.Shiraishi strivesto fulfill her duties as an ER doctor by observingAizawa, who issincere in his efforts to improve his skills.

Hiyama Mihoko(Toda Erika)
Hiyamaisa typical female doctor in the Japanese medical society, graduatingfrom a private medical school funded by her wealthy parents. She isaggressive and hates to lose. She feels burdened that her flight dutiesdecrease because of the other candidates. Hiyama isoverlyself-confident and strong-minded, which is sometimes perceivedasconceited behavior. However unlike Aizawa and Shiraishi, heremotional personality often results in tears or arguments withpatients. These relationships with others, and the competition and workwith her rivals will result in her growing up not only as a doctor, butalso as a humanbeing.
