Shallow waters, innumerable tiny islands scattered around with protected mooring bays for boats made it a haven for seafarers. Quite naturally, the main economic activity in the region was fishing and agriculture. This was the story till early eighties when the tourists discovered Krabi once again in its new dimensions.

Well protected bays and innumerable beaches with fine white sand; crystal clear waters on the shallow shore line, boating and snor****** facilities are all added attractions to the tourists who would like to have some tan to their skin from Krabi. Those who are more adventurous, can have the limestone precipices around on top of which they can have a good panoramic view of the surroundings.

Krabi and the surroundings are full of limestone outcrops and caves dating back to thousands of years. The caves show evidence of human habitation for centuries. Thailand being a predominantly Buddhist state, the caves are mainly cave temples and monasteries or centers for meditation.

Thick jungle provide an excellent panoramic backdrop. And there are very many habitable and virgin islands in the sea around. The islands all mainly belong to Koh Phi Phi National Marine Park.

Krabi town on its own have some sights to offer its visitors. But none can say that these are all of the must see category. Still Krabi has a part of every thing other locations in the vicinity or Thailand as a whole can offer you.

PLACES OF ATTRACTION
The Landmark

Khao Kanab Nam (Tiger Cave)

Rising straight from the blue waters to a staggering height of 100 metres, this hill is one of the outstanding natural landmarks to Krabi. And it is considered a symbol of Krabi.

A trip by boat for some 15 minutes from the town pier shall take you to the hill. A staircase to the top of the hill shall be really rewarding. There are caves with stalactites hanging from the roof. Centuries old Human skeletons have been recovered from here giving it an authentic stamp to the ancient civilizations in this region.
