Star Trek star Chris Pine has been reportedly charged with drink driving in New Zealand after leaving a wrap party for his new film. Pine, who played Captain James T. Kirk in J. J. Abrams films, was believed to have been pulled over and was found to have excess alcohol in his system. According to stuff.co.nz, the 33-year-old was in Methven, Canterbury, and had left the party to mark the end of filming Z For Zachariah. The site reports that he failed a blood test and is due to appear in court on Monday. In a statement, New Zealand police said: "A 33-year old American national was stopped during a routine drink-drive operation near Methven, Mid-Canterbury, early on Saturday morning, March 1. "He has been charged with driving with excess blood alcohol and will appear in the Ashburton District Court on Monday 17 March. "Given that the matter is now before the court police will not be releasing any further information." The party was held at the Blue Pub in the town and manager Casey Crawford told The Press that the actor, who attended the party with girlfriend Iris Bjork Johannesdottir, "seemed fine" before he left the bash. Crawford said he drank beer and was "cruisy" and "well spoken" but did not appear intoxicated, adding: "He looked like he wanted to spend time with his partner. "It was a really good party. It was really well controlled. Chris was really good. They were a good crowd, the lot of them." Casey said the bash finished at about 3am and was surprised to hear about Pine's drink driving charge. Pine has been in the country filming Z For Zachariah alongside Australian actress and Wolf of Wall Street star Margot Robbie. The post-apocalyptic sci-fi movie follows sixteen-year-old Ann Burden who has survived a nuclear war. It also stars Amanda Seyfried and Chiwetel Ejiofor. Via: Entertainmentwise
