Pakatan Rakyat will decide who will replace Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim as its candidate for the Kajang by-election at its convention in Setia Alam, Shah Alam today. The opposition coalition is also due to make an announcement as to whether it will mobilise its members to take to the streets to protest the Court of Appeal's decision yesterday that upheld Anwar's conviction for sodomising a former aide. At a press conference on the sidelines of the convention, Anwar told reporters that Pakatan would continue with its campaign in Kajang and would not allow Umno to derail its plans. Anwar and other senior Pakatan leaders at the press conference continued to insist that the court’s judgment yesterday was a conspiracy by Umno to disqualify Anwar, who is also opposition leader, from contesting in Kajang. – March 8, 2014.
