 Developers hoping to benefit from the Flappy Bird craze by using its name will no longer be able to after Apple and Google reportedly decided to reject games with ‘flappy’ in the headline. Online app stores have been besieged by titles using the word in order to try and trade on the popularity of the game, which is no longer available to download. But now the tech giants have decided to put an end to the high number of clones in their online stores, according to TechCrunch. A game called Flappy Dragon is said to have been recently rejected by Apple, which allegedly told the developer: ‘We found your app name attempts to leverage a popular app.’ The decision to crack down on the clones may have come too late though, with a number of titles similar to Flappy Bird already some of the most downloaded.
