 LOS ANGELES, Feb 18 — Angelina’s third directorial role results in “Unbroken,” with cinematography by Roger Deakins and contributions to the script from the Coen brothers. Catching the flame of this month’s Olympic buzz is this first look at “Unbroken,” a Hollywood biopic about former athlete and World War II prisoner of war Louis Zamperini, as the new project from Oscar-winner Jolie is previewed in a 3m10s video. It cuts between an interview with Zamperini, now 97 years of age, period photography, and scenes from the movie, expected toward the end of the year in North America and early 2015 in the rest of the world. British actor Jack O’Connell (“Tower Block”) lent his features to the film’s Zamperini, a young New Yorker rescued from delinquency by merit of his athletic prowess. An Olympic runner for the USA in Berlin’s 1936 Olympiad, Zamperini then took part in the second World War before becoming a Japanese prisoner of war between 1942 and 1945. Garrett Hedlund (“On the Road”), Domhnall Gleeson (“About Time”), Jai Courtney (“Divergent”) and Japanese singer Miyavi also take part in “Unbroken.” The script has been worked on by the Coen brothers, Richard LaGravense (“The Fisher King,” “Beautiful Creatures”) and William Nicholson (“Gladiator,” “Les Miserables”), while Deakins is well known for his association with the Coens’ oeuvre.
