Benedict Cumberbatch has thousands of devoted fans worldwide and it looks like the Benedict effect has spread to one Norfolk teenager, who has gone viral in China thanks to his remarkable resemblance to the Sherlock star. 16-year-old Tyler Michell has seen his Instagram profile inundated with comments after he posted a series of selfies this week, pointing out his resemblance to Benedict. Within days of posting the photos alongside Benedict and Sherlock hashtags, Tyler received thousands of comments from China. Benedict's show Sherlock and other British dramas such as Downton Abbey are huge hits on China's popular streaming video sites, and fans were soon turning their attention to lookalike Tyler. "You are truly a baby Benedict!" wrote one Chinese admirer. But things soon got out of control for the overwhelmed teen as he then posted a screenshot of a note which read: "Chinese followers. Stop commenting on all my stuff." Followers then lashed out at Tyler with his follower numbers plummeting within hours and the note photo attracting over 4,000 comments. "You wanted to be famous and the Chinese followers made it [come true]. Everything has double sides… It's just what u need to pay for being famous," wrote one follower while others defended the teen: "What did the boy do to deserve all the hate?" posted another. Tyler has since deleted the note and responded to some hurtful comments that claimed he was being racist, Instagramming another message today that reads: "I was not being racist. I couldn't understand what the comments said." Via: Entertainmentwise
