Nissan has officially unveiled the 2014 Qashqai. Set to go on sale in January, the redesigned crossover has an upscale appearance with LED-infused headlights, a clamshell-style hood and a distinctive greenhouse. The model also has a sloping roofline, a tailgate-mounted spoiler and an Active Grille Shutter - on diesel models with manual transmissions - that automatically closes at speeds above 30 km/h (18 mph). The upscale styling continues in the cabin as it boasts higher quality materials and an improved design. Notable highlights include gloss black trim, metallic accents and 'zero-gravity' seats that promise to offer more comfort and support. There's also a larger boot and a new NissanConnect infotainment system that has a seven-inch touchscreen display and internet connectivity. The 2014 Qashqai rides on Renault-Nissan's new CMF (Common Module Family) platform and weighs as much as 40 kg (88.1 lbs) less than its predecessor. The model also has an improved suspension and a new Electronic Power Assisted Steering system that promises to deliver a "more natural driving experience."
