Prototaip Kenderaan Elektrik Terbaharu dari BM3 dengan model 3 series BMW recently unveiled a prototype plug-in hybrid electric version of its popular “3 Series” of production models. Utilizing a four-cylinder TwinPower Turbo gasoline engine (via the new Efficient Dynamics engine group) along with an electric motor, the prototype compares performance-wise with BMW’s 3 Series six-cylinder model — of course, that’s equal performance with far less fuel consumption and cost, something worth remembering.
During the recent unveiling of the plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) prototype, BMW also detailed some of its recent efforts developing the “Power eDrive next-generation electrification platforms” — work intended to result in PHEVs with higher-powered electric motors, and in batteries with at least twice the capacity of current versions.
The drive system of the new PHEV prototype possesses an output of around 245 hp (183 kW), and maximum torque of around 400 N·m (295 lb-ft). The prototype averages about 2 liters/100 km (117.5 mpg US) with regard to fuel consumption, and about 50 g/km with regard to CO2 emissions. When in all-electric mode, the prototype can reach speeds of up to 120 km/h (74.5 mph), and possesses a range of around 35 kilometers (22 miles). Green Car Congress provides further details:
Not that it’s particularly important, but it’s probably worth noting that the prototype features a slight reduction in trunk space as compared to the current production models. Switching between the various modes available to the pro type is apparently as easy as pressing a button — these modes include an all-electric option and a “Save Battery” option. -James Ayre
