IPOH: Paloh assemblyman Datuk Nozula Mat Diah suffered serious injuries while his wife Datin Maziah Din died in an accident here yesterday evening. The couple's three other children, aged between nine and 23, who were with them, escaped with minor injuries. Also travelling in the same car was the couple's 20-month-old nephew. Ipoh district police chief Assistant Commissioner Sum Chang Keong said the accident happened about 6.30pm at Km23 of Jalan Cameron Highlands - Simpang Pulai. He said their Nissan Murano, driven by their eldest daughter, was in a convoy with another car, with four relatives inside. They were on their way to Ipoh from Gua Musang for a holiday. He added that when the Nissan Murano reached the accident scene, the driver lost control of the wheels, rammed into the hill side and landed inside the ditch. Maziah, who was in the front passenger seat, was rushed to KPJ Specialist Hospital Ipoh, but was pronounced dead upon arrival. "The eldest girl injured her hand while (Datuk) Nozula injured both his rib cage. "Although he is semi-conscious, he is in a stable condition," Sum said at the Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital forensic unit. He said it was raining at the time of the incident and the road was slippery. Sum said Maziah's remains would be taken back to Gua Musang after the post mortem. It is learnt that Nozula is yet to be informed about his wife's death. None of the family members were available for an interview. NST
