 KUALA LUMPUR, April 16 ― Senior DAP lawmaker Teresa Kok had a close shave Sunday when two men on a motorcycle attempted to snatch her necklace at a neighbourhood near the busy Jalan Ipoh here. In the politician’s police report posted on Facebook, Kok said the perpetrators, believed to be of Indian descent, approached her from the back as she was walking along Jalan Selama in Taman Rainbow with her two nieces around 7pm. Kok, who was visiting her parents, said the man riding pillion on the motorcycle then tried to grab the chain from around her neck. “Shocked, I fell to the ground and started yelling,” she said. Kok said she then ran to the back of a nearby car and the men gave chase but fell back when another vehicle passed through the street. The lawmaker also uploaded CCTV footage capturing part the incident, which showed her walking with her nieces when the two men on the motorcycle appeared. “I believe both the Indian men were snatch thieves who have committed the offence before because they moved fast,” she said, before urging for increased police patrols in the area.
